So last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Cool Kids show in NYC last night at SOBs. The show was EXCELLENT. Easily one of the best hip hop shows I’ve been too. Soo much fun. The Cool Kids absolutely DESTROYED the venue and are awesome guys. I got to meet a bunch of people after the show. Great times all around with some nice surprises including Nice and Smooth and Paper Tiger of Doomtree. Follow me after the jump for some more photos and details.

So I walked into SOBs to a somewhat crowded room and someone DJing. I realized that the DJ looked a hell of a lot like Paper Tiger (Doomtree) from Mineneapolis, but couldn’t believe he would be there. But he was wearing his signature glasses, so I was hoping it would be him, and not just a look-a-like.

Then, F. Stokes came out. Paper Tiger was indeed the DJ and DJed for F. Stokes. For those that don’t know, F. Stokes did an album with Lazerbeak (Doomtree) called Death of a Handsome Bride. I just heard it recently and it is BEYOND dope. I would highly recommend. F. Stokes killed it, the crowd wasn’t too energetic during the set, but showed him love after the show and bought all of his CDs in his bag. He definitely grabbed their attention when he performed “Pretty Shit”, a powerful song about domestic violence.

Then came up Camp Lo. When they performed their old songs from Uptown Saturday Night, their set was great. But I was not feeling their new stuff.

Nice and Smooth jumped on stage and performed “Hip Hop Junkies” among other greats. Greg Nice was incredibly hype, jumping into the crowd getting everyone excited! It was awesome!

Then they sang Happy Birthday to Biggie’s daughter.

The Kids then proceeded to perform an excellent show!

Then I got to chill with various people after the show. I talked to Paper Tiger for about 10 minutes. great guy. As is F. Stokes. Everyone except Camp Lo talked to fans after the show.

  1. Jealous hardly describes how I feel right now. They’ve never played Minneapolis and it seems like they never will.

  2. Hey man, what songs did they play? there playing in New Orleans next month and im curious as to what they will be playing
