Rjd2 Will Be Doing BIG Things in 2009

Rjd2

Talk about great fucking news. Rjd2 is easily one of me top 5 producers, and I love everything that the guy has ever done. When it comes to production, damn near all of his work is pristine. Needless to say, I’ve been waiting on new Rjd2 material since The Third Hand, because like most people I was a tad disappointed in Third Hand and knew that Hip-Hop is where he truly shines.

2DopeBoyz had a really dope article on Rj and the things that he has coming up before the end of the year. It sounds like Rj started his own label (RJ’s Electrical Connections), and he will be re-releasing his first 3 releases (Dead Ringer, The Horror EP & Since We Last Spoke) in a box set that will come out on October 2oth. ALSO included in the box set will be a new EP called The Tin Foil Hat EP which will contain 7 unreleased Rj cuts. You can go cop Your Face or Your Kneecaps, In Rare Form Things Go Better (Instrumentals) on iTunes now. To top it all off, we can expect Rj’s new album The Colossus to drop in early winter.

I’m pretty much ecstatic to hear this news. I can assure you that there is no doubt in my mind that I will be at the record store on October 20th to get my box set. Will you? If you’ve slept on Rj this long, I really don’t know if there is any hope left for you in the world.

David Guetta Feat. Kid Cudi, “Memories”

About a week ago my sister came back from Spain and introduced me to David Guetta, who apparently is all over the clubs in Europe. If you’re into some fun Electronic/House/etc, it’s pretty good. I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but the track with Akon is great (“Sexy Bitch”). Today on Okayplayer I saw a post with a download for the track “Memories” featuring Kid Cudi. On Tuesday, Guetta’s album One Love comes out in the US.

Swollen Members – Armed to the Teeth

Swollen Members announced their new album entitled Armed to the Teeth due out October 13th. The album will feature guest spots from Talib Kweli, Tech N9ne, and La Coka Nostra. Here are two free tracks, neither of which I am too crazy about. The chorus on “Warrior” is quite annoying. I was really pleased with their last effort, Black Magic so hopefully the whole LP will not disappoint.

Here’s Jay-Z’s brand new video for the track “Run This Town” featuring Rihanna and Kanye of The Blueprint 3 due out in September. It’s pretty dope. Enjoy!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Well look at this gem we have here courtesy of Nah Right. This is the video for the track “24k Rap” off of Dilla’s latest release Jay Stay Paid. This track is hard as hell, and is definitely one of my favorites on the album. I have to mention that the concept for this video is dope to, and I love the way it is shot. If you haven’t gone out and copped Jay Stay Paid yet, you are dead to me.

Black Milk Broadcast, Live from the Montreux Jazz Festival

Here we have another episode of Black Milk Broadcast. This time Black comes to you live from the infamous Montreux Jazz Festival. He gives you a good look backstage, and you get to see some cameos from Talib Kweli, Daru & AB. About halfway through the video you get to see a live performance of “Sound the Alarm” which is, of course, dope as hell.

Exile & DJ Day at the Dour Festival in Belgium

Here is some more amazing footage of DJ Day & Exile showing off their masterful MPC work in Belgium from the Dour Festival. As I’ve stated numerous times before, these guys are some of the best in the business at what they do. My question is, why can’t they come to Minneapolis?

Shia LaBeouf Talks About Directing for Cage

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Man when the fuck is that Cage biopic piece coming out? I really want to see what Shia can do. I caught this one on Cage’s Twitter just a little bit ago. This is a nice video interview with Shia LaBeouf discussing why he directed for Cage on the video for “I Never Knew You”, and why he thinks it’s special. These guys definitely chose an interesting setting for the interview (a gun range?), and it almost (to me) adds a little bit of humor.

DJ JS-1 Brings You the Greatest Sell Outs of All-Time

Posted in Media, Video with tags , on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Tim Althaus

By the way, if you didn’t know (which you should), DJ JS-1 just put out a sick ass album called Ground Original 2: No Sellout which you should spend money on. This video is the total truth, and JS-1 breaks down what he would consider to be the greatest sell-out moments in history. We aren’t just talking music, we are talking about sports and entertainment as well. Some of the things he lists may surprise you, but you can’t help but know he’s right.

DJ Premier, DJ Scratch & DJ Evil Dee Scratch Shit Up

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Tim Althaus

My lord, this is some great footage of DJ Scratch, DJ Premier & DJ Evil Dee doing their thing. This footage comes to us courtesy of Crate Kings, and it shows all 3 of these guys performing in Red Hook Park in New York City. This video is a testament as to why all three of these guys are legends, when they spin you know you are going to hear dope music. I only wish I could have been at this show. When the video hits 4 minutes… damn.
