On Friday, Brother Ali sat down with HipHopDX to discuss Us (out so soon! – Sept 22nd). Ali discusses some of the tracks, the new feel of the album, the new topics of the album, and his relationship with his fans. As he has discussed in the past, he ponders why his fans are in such a different social group than the people he grew up with. Follow me after the jump for the entire interview (it’s definitely worth reading).

The site has all the usual stuff plus a place where you can leave personal stories for Ali to read and connect with the fans (of course with a few ground rules to prevent the rowdy interneters).
Rjd2 Will Be Doing BIG Things in 2009
Posted in Music News with tags Dead Ringer, RJ's Electrical Connections, Rjd2, Since We Last Spoke, The Horror EP, The Tin Foil Hat EP, Things Go Better (Instrumentals), Your Face or Your Kneecaps on Friday, August 21, 2009 by Tim Althaus
Talk about great fucking news. Rjd2 is easily one of me top 5 producers, and I love everything that the guy has ever done. When it comes to production, damn near all of his work is pristine. Needless to say, I’ve been waiting on new Rjd2 material since The Third Hand, because like most people I was a tad disappointed in Third Hand and knew that Hip-Hop is where he truly shines.
2DopeBoyz had a really dope article on Rj and the things that he has coming up before the end of the year. It sounds like Rj started his own label (RJ’s Electrical Connections), and he will be re-releasing his first 3 releases (Dead Ringer, The Horror EP & Since We Last Spoke) in a box set that will come out on October 2oth. ALSO included in the box set will be a new EP called The Tin Foil Hat EP which will contain 7 unreleased Rj cuts. You can go cop Your Face or Your Kneecaps, In Rare Form & Things Go Better (Instrumentals) on iTunes now. To top it all off, we can expect Rj’s new album The Colossus to drop in early winter.
I’m pretty much ecstatic to hear this news. I can assure you that there is no doubt in my mind that I will be at the record store on October 20th to get my box set. Will you? If you’ve slept on Rj this long, I really don’t know if there is any hope left for you in the world.
David Guetta Feat. Kid Cudi, “Memories”
Posted in Downloads, Media, Music News with tags David Guetta, electro, house, Kid Cudi, One Love on Friday, August 21, 2009 by Nolan Levenson
About a week ago my sister came back from Spain and introduced me to David Guetta, who apparently is all over the clubs in Europe. If you’re into some fun Electronic/House/etc, it’s pretty good. I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but the track with Akon is great (“Sexy Bitch”). Today on Okayplayer I saw a post with a download for the track “Memories” featuring Kid Cudi. On Tuesday, Guetta’s album One Love comes out in the US.

Swollen Members – Armed to the Teeth
Posted in News with tags Armed to the Teeth, La Coka Nostra, Swollen Members, Talib Kweli, Tech N9ne on Thursday, August 20, 2009 by Nolan Levenson
Swollen Members announced their new album entitled Armed to the Teeth due out October 13th. The album will feature guest spots from Talib Kweli, Tech N9ne, and La Coka Nostra. Here are two free tracks, neither of which I am too crazy about. The chorus on “Warrior” is quite annoying. I was really pleased with their last effort, Black Magic so hopefully the whole LP will not disappoint.

So it looks like Tame One and Del the Funky Homosapien are teaming up with a producer who goes by Parallel Thought to make an album called Parallel Uni-Verses. The album will be coming out on Gold Dust in October. Check the website here.
They’ve released a track called “Special”. Download it here.

Updated Blueprint 3 Tracklist
Posted in Art, Media, Music News, News with tags Blueprint 3, jay-z, Kanye West on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Nolan Levenson
As previously mentioned by my man Tim, the album artwork and tracklisting were released for Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3, due out September 11th. Apparently the initial tracklisting was only a rumor, and not the official tracklist. Above is the official tracklist. It looks like Kanye handles the production on all but 5 of the tracks. Kid Cudi, Kanye, Rihanna, Drake, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beatz, and Pharrell make the guest spot cuts. Follow me after the jump for a track and producer list.
Also, on a side note, am I the only one that find’s “D.O.A.” a weird topic choice for Jay-Z, especially since one of his best buds, Kanye, uses the autotune quite frequently clearly. Plus Jay has been on tracks that use autotune (“Swagga Like Us” comes to mind). Seems a bit hipocritical. Just a thought I’ve had.
