When I went to see Eyedea and Abilites at Fifth Element in Minneapolis recently, they were showing this video on the monitors. Although I am not the biggest E & A fan, the video did look very cool. The video has now been released and it’s for the son entitled “Junk”. It featureas a lot of cool scenes, including a big white room with sweet angles of Abilities scratching. Check it out! E&A perform the track “Burn Fetish” from their new album on Rhymesayers entitled By the Throat which drops on Tuesday (7/21). I just got my copy in the mail and I’m not particularly thrilled with it, but this is still a cool video. The performance was filmed at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis.
To be simply put, this is some great news. “This Story” is the first single off of E & A’s first album in five years. Rhymesayers Entertainment will be releasing their new album By The Throat on July 21st. From the synopsis I read over at Ipso Facto (Shouts to Jake Money) it sounds like this album is going to be nothing short of a masterpiece. For those of you who have heard the previous material that Eyedea & Abilities have put out, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
I have to say that my expectation level for this album is pretty high. When artists like E & A go on a five year hiatus (as a group), you know they are going to come out with something special. 
To the right is the cover art for the new album, which is also very epic. I know I’m definitely going to be at the record store on July 21st to pick this one up, I hope you guys are to.

Ummm wow. That was my initial reaction when I saw this post at Hip Hop DX. With the initial artist lineup, this looks like (to me) that this is going to be the concert of the year. I know for sure that I am going to be trying like hell to make the Chicago show, because this is something I definitely don’t want to miss. This looks like the most studded Hip-Hop lineup I’ve seen for a show this year, and there are still more to be announced. If you get a chance to get tickets, please do not pass up your chance. Rock The Bells (Guerilla Union) has been putting together some of the finest Hip-Hop shows for the last 5 years and apparently they are looking to follow suit very strongly. To be honest I would probably pay one hundred dollars to see The Roots or Reflection Eternal. That means that even if tickets are one hundred (we don’t know as of yet) that this concert is absolutely killer for price. If you are able to make it to one of these shows, you are going to be catching the best Hip-Hop shows of this year.
Make sure you stay tuned for dates and ticket prices, as well as any updates that have to pertain to this series because we will let you know right away.
On Sunday, May 24, 2009, Rhymesayers Entertainment and Rose Presents brings you the second annual Soundset: the official Midwest kick-off festival of the summer with over eight hours of the best independent Hip Hop music in one day. It all goes down at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN (rain or shine).
This is the first round of artists we are announcing, this IS NOT the final lineup.
What fun would it be to tell you everything right away?

Atmosphere, MF Doom, Brother Ali, Sage Francis with B. Dolan, Immortal Technique, P.O.S, El P featuring Mr.
Dibbs, Eyedea & Abilities, Abstract Rude and I Self Devine.

It’s almost spring time and that means that Paid Dues is right around the corner. If you are lucky enough to be out in San Bernadino you will be able to catch one sick ass show. Rhymesayers vets Atomsphere will be headlining the bill, and will be featured by an array of RSE artists (Brother Ali, Eyedea & Abilities). To be honest the two acts I would be looking forward to the most are Cage as well as Blu & Exile. Both of the aforementioned artists are coming off of near classic albums and I would love to see what kind of life they can breathe into a live show. Who knows Exile might just rock out on the MPC during their show. Just like Soundset, this festival sounds very promising.
