Man when the fuck is that Cage biopic piece coming out? I really want to see what Shia can do. I caught this one on Cage’s Twitter just a little bit ago. This is a nice video interview with Shia LaBeouf discussing why he directed for Cage on the video for “I Never Knew You”, and why he thinks it’s special. These guys definitely chose an interesting setting for the interview (a gun range?), and it almost (to me) adds a little bit of humor.

Posted in Media, Video with tags DJ JS-1, Ground Original (No Sellout 2) on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Tim AlthausBy the way, if you didn’t know (which you should), DJ JS-1 just put out a sick ass album called Ground Original 2: No Sellout which you should spend money on. This video is the total truth, and JS-1 breaks down what he would consider to be the greatest sell-out moments in history. We aren’t just talking music, we are talking about sports and entertainment as well. Some of the things he lists may surprise you, but you can’t help but know he’s right.
Shouts to 2DopeBoyz for this one
DJ Premier, DJ Scratch & DJ Evil Dee Scratch Shit Up
Posted in Media, Video with tags DJ Evil Dee, DJ Premier, DJ Scratch, Red Hook Park on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Tim AlthausMy lord, this is some great footage of DJ Scratch, DJ Premier & DJ Evil Dee doing their thing. This footage comes to us courtesy of Crate Kings, and it shows all 3 of these guys performing in Red Hook Park in New York City. This video is a testament as to why all three of these guys are legends, when they spin you know you are going to hear dope music. I only wish I could have been at this show. When the video hits 4 minutes… damn.

There has been footage of Jay performing all over the internet over the last few weeks, but nothing compares to this. This is some dope ass footage of Jay Electronica & Mos Def dropping megaton bombs on the microphone. Lord, please give me a Jay Electronica full-length, and for the 950th time I’m pissed off I missed this show…
Wild Style Wednesday Review: Atmosphere, God Loves Ugly
Posted in Music Reviews, Wildstyle Wednesdays with tags Ant, Atmosphere, God Loves Ugly, minneapolis, Rhymesayers Entertainment, Slug on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Tim Althaus
To sit here and tell everyone that reads this blog that God Loves Ugly is an album that didn’t influence me, is a total lie. I’m almost certain I was in 10th grade the first time that I heard the song “Godlovesugly”, all I was thinking was “Who in the fuck is this?”. When I heard that the emcee brilliantly blessing the microphone was from Minneapolis, I simply couldn’t believe it. This album introduced me to the whole world of the Rhymesayers Crew, and if it were for that reason alone I would still never forget this album. What God Loves Ugly showed me, more than anything, is that great talent is much closer to home than you may think. Yeah Slug may rap about women a little too much, and yeah his ego might come off a little bigger than it should be… but dude has mad skills on the mic. Continue reading

Updated Blueprint 3 Tracklist
Posted in Art, Media, Music News, News with tags Blueprint 3, jay-z, Kanye West on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Nolan Levenson
As previously mentioned by my man Tim, the album artwork and tracklisting were released for Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3, due out September 11th. Apparently the initial tracklisting was only a rumor, and not the official tracklist. Above is the official tracklist. It looks like Kanye handles the production on all but 5 of the tracks. Kid Cudi, Kanye, Rihanna, Drake, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beatz, and Pharrell make the guest spot cuts. Follow me after the jump for a track and producer list.
Also, on a side note, am I the only one that find’s “D.O.A.” a weird topic choice for Jay-Z, especially since one of his best buds, Kanye, uses the autotune quite frequently clearly. Plus Jay has been on tracks that use autotune (“Swagga Like Us” comes to mind). Seems a bit hipocritical. Just a thought I’ve had.
Blue Scholars – Bayani Redux
Posted in Art, Media, Music News, News with tags Bayani, Bayani Redux, Blue Scholars, Duck Down, Geo, Massline, Sabzi, Shad on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by Nolan Levenson
On September 1st, Blue Scholars will be re-releasing one of my favorite albums, Bayani. The 2007 version, out on Rawkus/Massline, is out of print. Bayani Redux will be re-released on Duck Down to get it back out again. As you can see from the art above, it has a slightly different cover (I LOVE the color scheme) and will feature 3 more songs. Two of those songs were previously released on Digital EPs (“27” and “Southbound”). The last is a brand new track entitled “The Dawn Song” and features the Canadian rapper Shad (who is pretty dope).
So besides the artwork and the new track, there isn’t a lot here, which is somewhat dissapointing for me. I’ve been waiting 2 years+ since Bayani for some more material and we’ve gotten a couple of new tracks and the OOF! EP. Another new full length is apparently in the works so me and the other scholars fans are gonna have to sit tight.

Psalm One released her take on Drake’s song “Uptown” available on the Rhymesayers website. Apparently Psalm has been working on her follow up to 2006’s The Death of Frequent Flyer.
