Radio Do Canibal

Have I ever mentioned that Minneapolis Hip-Hop is the shit? BK-One, who is  Brother Ali’s tour DJ, will be dropping his new album Rádio Do Canibal with Benzilla on October 6th. This is the first leak off of the project and it features MPLS native Brother Ali, Phonte & The Grouch. The beat on this track is bananas, and it’s definitely something I could see myself listening to on a regular basis. It sounds like this project is going to be nothing short of amazing, and it will have a star studded cast of emcees. Over the instrumentals you will hear: Black Thought, Brother Ali, Phonte, The Grouch, Murs, Slug, Raekwon, Blueprint, P.O.S., Blueprint, Toki Wright & many more. You can go over to Fifth Element and pre-order the album now, which is probably a good idea. Follow me after the jump to download the track and peep the tracklisting. Continue reading

I have to admit that I love the artwork for Blueprint 3. There is something about it that I just can’t put my finger on. I have to thank the homie Meka for this one over at 2DopeBoyz. I don’t know how I feel about the album as a whole though… It’s mostly produced by Mr. West & No I.D., and it seems as though Kanye’s camp is playing a predominant role in theme of this album. I’m not going to get my hopes up for another Blueprint. Follow me after the jump for the tracklisting. Continue reading

Wild Style Wednesday Review: Soul Position, Things Go Better With RJ & Al

7370-things-go-better-with-rj-and-alIn lieu of my friend and comrade Erik Burg leaving us at Mind Inversion, I wanted to do a review that would hit close to home with him. When you think of dynamic duos, you tend to think of pairings such as Premier & Guru, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth and not to mention Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. This is where Rjd2 and Blueprint come into the equation. From the first time that I heard these guys collaborate on Rjd2’s album Dead Ringer I knew they were going to be preposterous pairing in every aspect. Continue reading

Wild Style Wednesday Review: Rjd2, The Horror EP

Posted in Wildstyle Wednesdays with tags , , , , , , on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 by Tim Althaus

RJ horror Rjd2 is one badass dude, he released Deadringer in 2002 (one of my favorite albums of all time), and roughly one year later he released this ten track gem otherwise known as The Horror EP. Don’t get me wrong, Deadringer is a multi-level musical masterpiece but I think The Horror EP is a little better. This EP has ten top tier tracks, revisits some of the best moments of Deadringer and further more, it features some of Rj’s best beats. I feel as though if this was the only material that you owned by Rjd2, you would still be listening to his best music. Continue reading
