Shout out to 2dopeboyz for this one. The west coast duo Zion I released The Take Over earlier this year. This is the video for the song “Coastin” which feature K Flay . I definitely would recommend checking out the album, there are a bunch of good tracks.

Shout out to Okayplayer for the find. Here we have Nas and DJ Khalil in the lab recording the song “Colors” which sounds sweet. Apparently it was supposed to be on Untitled but did not make the cut. From the sounds of it, the song is about race, specifically about mixed-race children.
Found this one on Always Hustle. Chali2na performing the song “Comin’ Thru” off his new album Fish Outta Water at the Highline Ballroom in NYC on 7/13. This is my favorite track on the LP.
14 years after OB4CL, Chef Raekwon and Ghost will be releasing the sequel. The only track I’ve heard, “New Wu” is sick. The album features a lot of Ghostface, GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Busta, Jadakiss, Styles P, Slick Rick, and more with production by RZA, Dr. Dre, Mathematics, The Alchemist, J Dilla, Marley Marl, and Pete Rock. If you haven’t seen the video for “New Wu”, here it is:

The production duo Beatnick & K-Salaam released Whose World Is This? last summer and are releasing a new FREE project via illRoots next week (7/28). This track, “Don’t Die” features Bun B, Talib Kweli, and Colin Munroe. The new album will feature the likes of Lil Wayne, Young Buck, K’naan, and many more!
For those that don’t know, there’s a hip hop label from the Northwest called Hip Hop IS Music featuring some pretty dope MCs including Braille, Theory Hazit, Poems, Sojourn, Sivion, Surreal, Othello, and the group Lightheaded. Braille and the label were on somewhat on a hiatus, and now they are back. While many categorize them under the “chrisitan rap” label and dismiss them, they are making some sick music. I would highly recommend Theory Hazit’s Extra Credit.
To mark the launch of their comeback, they are releasing a free single of Sojourn’s new album Sojournalism: The Summer Articles which drops September 1st.
This song has been flying around the internet for months and finally has a real video. If you haven’t heard it, it’s called “Make Her Say” by Kid Cudi and features fellow G.O.O.D. music members Kanye and Common (Kanye’s verse is killer!). The song samples Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” chopped up to make it sound like “Poke Her Face”. It’s fantastic. This is the official video. Look out for Kid Cudi’s September 15th release Man on the Moon.
Lily Allen’s new video for the song “22” off one of my favorite albums of this year, It’s Not Me, It’s You. The song is about how the media portrays her as old and washed up because “she’s nearly 30” (which isn’t really true). I highly recommend the album, musicaly it’s fantastic. Also check out her other videos for “Fuck You” and “Not Fair”.
Pac Div, an up-and-coming trio from Southern Cali consisting of members Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung, recently released a new mixtape entitled Church League Champions. The mixtape release hopes to build some more hype for the group before their album release. The website pretty cool, featuring a game (which has yet to be posted) and this cool trailer:
E&A perform the track “Burn Fetish” from their new album on Rhymesayers entitled By the Throat which drops on Tuesday (7/21). I just got my copy in the mail and I’m not particularly thrilled with it, but this is still a cool video. The performance was filmed at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis.
