That’s right folks; The Paid Dues Festival has released their official lineup for the 2012 concert series. There are definitely some heavy hitters on this bill; those who attend can expect to see Wu-Tang Clan, Dilated Peoples, Kendrick Lamar and The Living Legends, just to name a few. The one thing that I love about festivals like Paid Dues and Rock The Bells is that they do a great job of highlighting acts on both coasts of the country. Even though I’m not huge on acts like Odd Future and Dipset, I would still love to make a trip out to California to see this epic bill of artists because honestly, Hip-Hop festivals are for the children.

Paid Dues 2012 Announced!

Posted in Album Update, Music News with tags Ghostface, Method Man, Raekwon, Tracklisting, Wu Massacre, Wu-Tang Clan on Thursday, February 18, 2010 by Tim AlthausTalk about the definition of epic. I’m pretty sure this album was suppose to come out right before Christmas, but nonetheless, here we are with some official artwork and a tracklisting. The thing that gets me is that there are no producer credits listed by the tracks; this is going to drive me nuts. I really want to know who is producing on this album. There is no official release date yet either, but I’m sure we will hear soon enough. Follow me after the jump for the tracklisting. Continue reading
Raekwon Talks About the Making of Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2
Posted in Media, Video with tags Hip-Hop Official, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, Raekwon, Wu-Tang Clan on Monday, September 7, 2009 by Tim AlthausTomorrow is the day that Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 drops, are you ready? I will be purchasing the album on my break in between classes tomorrow morning, and I will be bumping it for the rest of the day repeatedly. Hip Hop Official had the chance to sit down with The Chef and talk about all of the blood sweat and tears that went into OB4CL2. Rae talks about a lot of the things that hindered his ability to make this album, and why it has taken so long. Much like Ghost said in one of my previous posts, The Wu isn’t broken up, they are just in a lot of different pieces right now. The Chef also discusses that he made Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 for the people, because that’s what they wanted. He also mentions that more artists should be doing what the fans want (co-sign).

Ghostface Interview With Thisis50
Posted in Media, Video with tags Ghostface, State of Hip-Hop, Staten Island, Thisis50, Wu-Tang Clan on Monday, September 7, 2009 by Tim AlthausI never get sick of hearing news about Ghostface, because the guy is a fucking beast and a legend. Thisis50.com recently sat down with Ghost Deini himself, and discussed a few key issues. He discusses how much he has learned being in the game, and how he wishes he knew back then what he knows now. He also discusses his relationship with the rest of the Wu-Tang Clan. He says that the Clan is cool, but it seems like they don’t really see each other as much as they used to because of solo work. Another thing that Ghost discusses is how Staten Island is different from the rest of the Burroughs in New York. Also make sure you listen to Ghost ring in on the current state of Hip-Hop, he makes some damn good points about the industry.

GZA Live @ Lollapalooza
Posted in Media, Video with tags GZA, Liquid Swords, lollapalooza, santigold, Wu-Tang Clan on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 by Tim AlthausI have to say, GZA has to be top 10 for sure. Here is some footage of The Genius performing “Liquid Swords” at Lollapalooza this year live with Santigold. I watched this video and had to start listening to the album Liquid Swords right away, shit’s way to classic to not listen to on a regular basis. You can hit the jump to watch another video with some very brief clips of performances from other tracks, GZA talking about what other projects he would love to be a part of and the feature of the Clan. Ghostface & Raekwon Live @ The Nokia Theatre
Posted in Media, Video with tags Ghostface, ODB, Raekwon, Wu-Tang Clan on Monday, August 10, 2009 by Tim AlthausHere is some great footage of Ghost going through damn near the whole fucking Wu-Tang Clan catalog. The crowd goes absolutely crazy when he starts messing around with the ODB shit. You can hear the crowd singing pretty much the entire song, which shows just how loyal Wu fans can be. He also runs through “Triumph”, “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin’ to Fuck Wit” & he brings The Chef out for the rendition of “C.R.E.A.M.”. I haven’t had the pleasure, but I can’t imagine what it’s like to see Ghost & The Chef do a show together. These two just feed off of each other like crazy, and the energy the accrues could blow the roof off any venue.

The Budden / Wu Beef continues
Posted in News, Video with tags Joe Budden, Raekwon, Wu-Tang Clan on Sunday, August 9, 2009 by Nolan LevensonI cannot believe we are still talking about this, but apparently some rappers’ egos are just to large. Just when we thought the Joe Budden / Wu Tang beef was subsiding, there was apparently a backstage altercation yesterday in Los Angeles. That’s just fanastic. I hate when professional musicians cannot act professional. This bout is childish to say the least. Rock the Bells is supposed to be an event where hip hop’s greats can come together to create a great day of music.
The video above is from Budden’s live stream after he was punched in the eye by someone in Ice Water, Raekwon’s posse. Afterwards, according to HipHopDX, police officials reportedly closed the backstage and the concert performances were cut short. Crooked I apparently went with his posse, Circle of Bosses, to find the assailants and had this to say, “Ain’t nobody gonna disrespect one of my dudes when we on the west coast.“
I really wish that this sort of stuff didn’t happen. It doesn’t benefit anyone.
Wu-Tang Clan Demo Tape?
Posted in Audio, Downloads with tags 1992, Demo Tape, Enter The 36 Chambers, RZA, Wu-Tang Clan on Friday, July 24, 2009 by Tim AlthausI was over at Hip Hop Official and I found this rare gem. What I have here, is the original 1992 Wu-Tang Demo. That’s right, this is before they became every Hip-Hop head’s favorite group with Enter The 36 Chambers. We are talking about the demo that got Wu-Tang Clan in the game. You will hear every member of the Clan gracing the mic just like they always have. Not to mention that you will get to hear some straight up old school RZA production. Don’t sleep on this one, you may truly regret it.

Royce Claims “The Wu-Tang/Slaughterhouse Beef is Over”…
Posted in Media, Video with tags Rock the Bells, Slaughterhouse, Wu-Tang Clan on Monday, July 20, 2009 by Tim AlthausThis whole beef has been going on for awhile now, and it has honestly kept me on the edge of my seat. My man Nolan posted the video with Raekwon last week, and now I found this video over at 2DopeBoyz of Royce saying the beef is over at Rock The Bells. Not only does Royce say the beef is over, but he speaks the truth as he gives Wu-Tang props and calls them legends. It’s good to see that the beef was able to be squashed because there is just no need for that shit in Hip-Hop (although it does sell records).
