Joe Budden Wants to “Squaredance” with Raekwon

Here is Joey’s vlog about all of the madness that ensued at Rock the Bells. Based on this video, I think that things could end up getting really fucking interesting. These guys are just taking this shit way too far.

On a brighter note you can download the track “We Outta Here” (which features Slaughterhouse) off of Joe’s album Escape Route here.

Raekwon Phone Interview + Blood On The Chef’s Apron Freestyle Video

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , , on Monday, August 10, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Recently (before the Joe Budden/Rock the Bells incident), Raekwon did a phone interview with Culture VI Media about OBFCL 2. Rae talks about what it was like to have such a classic album on his first release, and how it may have plagued his later releases. The Chef also talks about how he has grown as an artist, and what he thinks people expect out of him. In a somewhat startling beam of light, Raekwon reveals that he is a big fan of the Slaughterhouse movement and that he could see himself picking up their album. Follow me after the jump to grab the “Blood on the Chef’s Apron Freestyle” video. Continue reading

Ghostface & Raekwon Live @ The Nokia Theatre

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Monday, August 10, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Here is some great footage of Ghost going through damn near the whole fucking Wu-Tang Clan catalog. The crowd goes absolutely crazy when he starts messing around with the ODB shit. You can hear the crowd singing pretty much the entire song, which shows just how loyal Wu fans can be. He also runs through “Triumph”, “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin’ to Fuck Wit” & he brings The Chef out for the rendition of “C.R.E.A.M.”. I haven’t had the pleasure, but I can’t imagine what it’s like to see Ghost & The Chef do a show together. These two just feed off of each other like crazy, and the energy the accrues could blow the roof off any venue.

The Budden / Wu Beef continues

Posted in News, Video with tags , , on Sunday, August 9, 2009 by Nolan Levenson

I cannot believe we are still talking about this, but apparently some rappers’ egos are just to large. Just when we thought the Joe Budden / Wu Tang beef was subsiding, there was apparently a backstage altercation yesterday in Los Angeles. That’s just fanastic. I hate when professional musicians cannot act professional. This bout is childish to say the least. Rock the Bells is supposed to be an event where hip hop’s greats can come together to create a great day of music.

The video above is from Budden’s live stream after he was punched in the eye by someone in Ice Water, Raekwon’s posse. Afterwards, according to HipHopDX, police officials reportedly closed the backstage and the concert performances were cut short. Crooked I apparently went with his posse, Circle of Bosses, to find the assailants and had this to say, “Ain’t nobody gonna disrespect one of my dudes when we on the west coast.

I really wish that this sort of stuff didn’t happen. It doesn’t benefit anyone.

Raekwon Sheds Some Light on “House of Flying Daggers”

If you haven’t heard the track House of Flying Daggers, you must be sleeping under a rock. The Chef briefly speaks on the monster track produced be J Dilla, and how he feels that this track actually embodies what the Wu is all about. Is it just me, or do the days seem to be getting slower as we get towards September 8th?

Is it just me, or does September 8th seem right around the corner? With joints like this one, you can’t blame me for being anctious. This ridiculously fire track comes via 2DopeBoyz, and it will also be on Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II. Raekwon brings along Ghostface, Inspectah Deck & Method Man to drop some mad Wu flavor on a Dilla treat. As you would expect all 4 emcees rip this shit apart (especially Ghost) on a ridiculous Dilla beat.

Raekwon Talks Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , , on Friday, July 24, 2009 by Tim Althaus

As my man Nolan mentioned earlier this week, Raekwon finally dropped the album artwork and tracklisting for Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II. In this video he talks a lot about the production that his going to be on the new album. He mentions that when he was going through the process, he thought that production was going to be the biggest piece of the album. Rae actually breaks down how dope he thinks (and I think) Dilla is on the boards. He calls him “like a Dr. Dre & a RZA… a combo”. I’m sure that you can expect nothing but straight fire from Rae & Ghost. Make sure you drop that shit on September 8th, you won’t regret it.
