Yet another banger from J Dilla off of the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 album, which I may remind you drops on September 8th. You may recall that the beat on this track was on the re-release of Jaylib, Champion Sound on the track “The Red”. I remember when I heard the beat initially (on the Jaylib album) and was kind of disappointed that Madlib had changed it. Either way you look at it, the beat does knock like crazy and these guys are dope as hell over it. Cappadonna’s verse is a little below average compared to Ghost Deini and The Chef, but it’s still a dope ass track.

David Guetta Feat. Kid Cudi, “Memories”

Posted in Downloads, Media, Music News with tags , , , , on Friday, August 21, 2009 by Nolan Levenson

About a week ago my sister came back from Spain and introduced me to David Guetta, who apparently is all over the clubs in Europe. If you’re into some fun Electronic/House/etc, it’s pretty good. I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but the track with Akon is great (“Sexy Bitch”). Today on Okayplayer I saw a post with a download for the track “Memories” featuring Kid Cudi. On Tuesday, Guetta’s album One Love comes out in the US.

Apathy & Phonte Know “True Love”

Ap Snuggle

This is another great piece of news to wake up to this morning. Apathy (of the Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs, Get Busy Committee, etc.) will be releasing his new album Wanna Snuggle?, his sophomore follow up to Eastern Philosophy on October 6th. If you haven’t been acquainted with this guy, you need to. He’s a great emcee and he’s fucking hilarious on the microphone. I personally loved Eastern Philosophy, and I’ve been a fan since I heard him on JMT’s Psycho Social album. Anyways, I checked my BlackBerry this morning and found the leak for the first single “True Love” which features Phonte. This track is dope, and I highly suggest you guys check this shit.

14KT Gives You Some Nowalataz

14KT Nowa

I’ve been waiting for this since I initially heard about it, and I will give thanks to 2DopeBoyz as I have too many times in the past. 14KT is a producer out of the Lab Techs collective in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you haven’t heard about this guy I really do feel sorry for you. The beats that this guy has put out are nothing short of amazing. This is an album that 14KT has had done since 2006, when J Dilla passed away. Making these “donuts” was his way of coping with Dilla’s passing. On another note, you can catch 14KT on tour with Buff1, Mayer Hawthorne & House Shoes starting September 5th. Follow me after the jump for the download link. Continue reading

Via 2dopeboyz, we have a new track from Detroit’s Black Milk. It’s called “In the A.M.” and features Black on the Mic and on production. The beat, as usual, is sick.

New Brother Ali single!

Above you can listen to Brother Ali’s new track “Fresh Air” which was released today digitally. I gotta say, this may be the best hip hop track I’ve heard all year. The beat is simply amazing (although I am a HUGE Ant fan so I’m a little biased). I heard this track live at Soundset and then again at One Day in July in downtown Minneapolis and have been waiting to get this track for a while now. This track is getting me more PUMPED for Ali’s Us due out September 22nd. Make sure you catch Ali with Evidence and Toki Wright on tour this fall.

Felt 3 producer revealed + free track!

Posted in Audio, Downloads, Music News, News with tags , , , , on Saturday, August 15, 2009 by Nolan Levenson

And the winnner is……Aesop Rock! That’s right, Aesop Rock will be producing the new Felt album, the tribute still TBA. Rhymesayers released a track yesterday evening for FREE called “Protaganists” with MURS proclaiming “The Felt boys are back, the boys of summer / and this time ya boy Aes Rock is the drummer”.

I was excited to hear the track, but I am a little disappointed with the Aesop Rock selection. While he is a capable producer, I thought RSE and Felt would be pulling something crazier and less expected. Regardless, the track is pretty good, you can download it below or visit the RSE website.

Joe Budden, “No Comment” & “Clothes on a Mannequin”

Joey’s Escape Route dropped today and thanks to 2DopeBoyz we have two more leaks off of the album. We heard “No Comment” in an earlier post, but that was only radio rip quality, and “Clothes on a Mannequin” is one that we haven’t heard yet. J. Cardim produced both of the tracks, and as usual you can expect Budden to be spitting his heart out. If you haven’t you can cop Escape Route over at Amalgam Digital.

*Side Note: I know a lot of people have been hating on Budden a lot lately. Either way you look at the situation going on right now… Budden is a damn good lyricist.
