So I don’t really know how I let this performance get under my nose since I am now in NY. Shout out to AlwaysHustle for this clip of Del tha Funkee Homosapien performing the Gorillaz’s “Clint Eastwood” in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at the Jelly NYC Pool Party.

Jay Electronica Live From Atlanta
Posted in Media, Video with tags Dimethyltryptamine, Jay Electronica, Mos Def on Sunday, August 16, 2009 by Tim AlthausHere is some footage of the phenom, Jay Electronica, performing live at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. In the video is a live performance of the track “Dimelthyltryptamine”, in which half contains a beat and the rest is acapella. I have to say this again, I’m extremely pissed I couldn’t make the Jay/MosDef show in Minneapolis.

Shouts to 2DopeBoyz & The Real Frequency on this one. Apparently Raekwon loves Joey Budden? Watch the video and feed your thoughts to the comments section. I’m interested to hear what people have to say…
DJ Premier Talks Slaughterhouse & Gang Starr
Posted in Media, Video with tags As The World Spins, DJ Premier, Gang Starr, Guru, Royce Da 5'9", Slaughterhouse, Street Hop on Sunday, August 16, 2009 by Tim AlthausVodpod videos no longer available.
Premo is easily one of the greatest producers in the history of the game. As many would say, if he co-signs it you know it’s straight fire. In his interview with As The World Spins, he tells us (which I am highly grateful to hear) that Royce’s album Street Hop will be hitting the streets on October 11th, and that there isn’t a Premo beat on the Slaughterhouse album because he was mixing Street Hop. DJ Premier also mentions that he is down to do a new Gang Starr album as soon as Guru is ready, because he loves the chemistry that they have together. It’s also great to hear Premier talk about what he would consider “real Hip-Hop”, he couldn’t be more right.

Thank you to Shake over at 2DopeBoyz. This is just some raw footage of one of my favorite emcees and one of my favorite producers. News about Evidence never seems to get old to me, and it seems like Cats & Dogs is right around the corner. I haven’t been able to put Alchemist’s Chemical Warfare down for the last two weeks, it just keeps getting better after every listen. Make sure you guys watch out for the Step Brothers album coming out next year as well.
*Side Note: “Letyourselfgo” is one of my favorite tracks off of The Weatherman LP
New Pacewon and Mr. Green video – “She Can Be So Cold”
Posted in Video with tags Mr. Green, Pacewon on Friday, August 14, 2009 by Nolan LevensonJust got a facebook update about the new video from Pacewon and Mr. Green for their track “She Can Be So Cold” off of last year’s The Only Color that Matters Is Green (which I would HIGHLY recommend).
Black Moon – A Tribute to the Classics live
Posted in Video with tags Black Moon, Dah Shinin', Duck Down, Enta Da Stage, Smif 'n' Wessun on Friday, August 14, 2009 by Nolan LevensonBlack Moon and Smif ‘n’ Wessun have lately been pretty big on performing their classic albums Enta Da Stage and Dah Shinin’, respectively, in their entirety. This video, via 2dopeboyz, has a chunk of Black Moon’s set performing live in Brooklyn for another free show (ugh, I can’t believe I missed this, I just got back to NY). It’s super weird to hear the beats with a live band since I’m so used to letting those Beatminerz beats bang, but still good nonetheless.

Posted in Media, Video with tags DJ Day, Exile, MPC on Thursday, August 13, 2009 by Tim AlthausEvery single time I see one of these videos I’m more astonished than the time before. Exile & DJ Day have been doing their thing with MPCs for a while now, and 2DopeBoyz had some video footage over on their page. What these guys do is utterly amazing and I would give almost anything to see them do their thing live. Make sure you go out and get Exile’s Radio now. Follow me after the jump for the Amsterdam performance. Continue reading
