Brother Ali & Toki Wright, Behind the Scenes in the Studio

Damn this shit sounds like it is going to go hard as hell. Here is some footage of Brother Ali & Toki Wright in the studio during the making of a new track featuring Evidence entitled “The Freshest Kids”. Apparently they are making this track for the “Fresh Air Tour”, which I already have my tickets for (and you should to). If I may mention, the beat on this track sounds beyond sick. Also, listen for Toki going in at the end of the track, “Inglorious Bastards/enjoying this action, make audience backspin/kick like a 44 magnum, ribbed like a trojan magnum package/I’m askin’ how the kid rappin’ above average”. DAMN.

Radio Do Canibal

Have I ever mentioned that Minneapolis Hip-Hop is the shit? BK-One, who is  Brother Ali’s tour DJ, will be dropping his new album Rádio Do Canibal with Benzilla on October 6th. This is the first leak off of the project and it features MPLS native Brother Ali, Phonte & The Grouch. The beat on this track is bananas, and it’s definitely something I could see myself listening to on a regular basis. It sounds like this project is going to be nothing short of amazing, and it will have a star studded cast of emcees. Over the instrumentals you will hear: Black Thought, Brother Ali, Phonte, The Grouch, Murs, Slug, Raekwon, Blueprint, P.O.S., Blueprint, Toki Wright & many more. Brother Ali Speaks on Downloading Vs. Buying Music

Definitely some great material here. In this Vlog, Brother Ali touches on his thoughts about downloading music (illegally) as well as buying it in tangible form. I’m pretty sure that I agree with every single thing that Brother Ali says. I will admit, I definitely download music when I don’t have the cash to buy hard copies. But I can assure you that I buy CD’s as well, and I go to as many shows as I can to show support. The point that he makes about all of the finances that go into putting albums out is really good, and I think everyone should think about that. This is just one of the many reasons that Ali is one of the best emcees out there.

Brother Ali discusses “Us”

On Friday, Brother Ali sat down with HipHopDX to discuss Us (out so soon! – Sept 22nd). Ali discusses some of the tracks, the new feel of the album, the new topics of the album, and his relationship with his fans. As he has discussed in the past, he ponders why his fans are in such a different social group than the people he grew up with. Brother Ali launches new website

Today, Brother Ali and Rhymesayers Entertainment launched Brother Ali’s brand new website www.brotherali.com to help promote the September 22nd release Us. The site has all the usual stuff plus a place where you can leave personal stories for Ali to read and connect with the fans (of course with a few ground rules to prevent the rowdy interneters).

Above you can listen to Brother Ali’s new track “Fresh Air” which was released today digitally. I gotta say, this may be the best hip hop track I’ve heard all year. The beat is simply amazing (although I am a HUGE Ant fan so I’m a little biased). I heard this track live at Soundset and then again at One Day in July in downtown Minneapolis and have been waiting to get this track for a while now. This track is getting me more PUMPED for Ali’s Us due out September 22nd. Make sure you catch Ali with Evidence and Toki Wright on tour this fall.

Atmosphere / Brother Ali / Reef the Lost Cauze freestyle

So I had the pleasure of seeing Atmosphere oustide the TC at a show in Philadelphia in May on the “When God Give You Ugly Tour” with Brother Ali opening. At the end of the show they brought out Reef the Lost Cauze to freestyle over the “Smart Went Crazy” beat. Reef absolutely killed it and I’m happy I found this video, dropping tons of sweet Philly references (including Wawa!). Unfortunately the sound qualiy isn’t great, but it’s still enjoyable.

Brother Ali and the fine people at Rhymesayers Entertainment have leaked the track “Us” for free download. If you didn’t catch it, I posted the preview video of this track the other day. Above this post is the artwork for Ali’s new album Us. If you haven’t yet, make sure you pre-order the album here. Sounds like this album is shaping up to be yet another fine piece of work from Ali.
