Blue Scholars to Drop New EP in August

Posted in Music News with tags , , , , on Monday, July 20, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Blue ScholarsOne of my favorite West Coast duos,  Blue Scholars, will be releasing a new EP on August 25th. These guys have been reppin’ hard for Seattle for the last 5 or so years. I unfortunately found out about these guys way too late when I read an article in Spin magazine last year. I immediately picked up their album Bayani and fell in love with that shit. Geo and Sabzi are one hell of a combo together and all of their music is top notch. Sabzi makes some of the dopest beats that have come out of the left coast in a while, and Geo’s political and conscious rhymes make me feel moved everytime I give their music a spin.

I found out about these guys last year, and their music has been on very heavy rotation ever since I’ve gotten into them. If you love good Hip-Hop there is no reason you should be sleeping on Blue Scholars. Make sure you stay tuned at Mind Inversion because I will definitely have a review up.

Editors Note*: According to the Blue Scholars Twitter Page, they will also be dropping a new full length in 2010.

Album Review: Joe Budden, Padded Room

JoeBudden2009PaddedRoomI remember being in tenth grade when Joe Budden’s first single “Pump it Up” came out. To be 100% honest, I didn’t care for it at all. After that track, it almost seemed like Joe fell flat off the face of the earth. From what I’ve gathered, Joe has released some mixtapes in the interim but nothing really serious… until Padded Room. It took me a while to even give this CD a complete listen because I had no idea what it was going to be like. Once I did start listening I just couldn’t get a grasp right away of how to feel. Joe has a line in the first track on the album “Now I Lay” that sums up the aforementioned statement perfectly, “It’d take you a long time to evaluate me”. It literally took me about 20 listens to get a good feel for this album, but my general consensus is that this album is damn good. Continue reading

Royce Claims “The Wu-Tang/Slaughterhouse Beef is Over”…

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , on Monday, July 20, 2009 by Tim Althaus

This whole beef has been going on for awhile now, and it has honestly kept me on the edge of my seat. My man Nolan posted the video with Raekwon last week, and now I found this video over at 2DopeBoyz of Royce saying the beef is over at Rock The Bells. Not only does Royce say the beef is over, but he speaks the truth as he gives Wu-Tang props and calls them legends. It’s good to see that the beef was able to be squashed because there is just no need for that shit in Hip-Hop (although it does sell records).

Behind The Scenes On The “Under Siege” Video Shoot

Man this one had my ass rolling on the floor the whole time. This is some great behind the scenes footage from the Alchemist & Oh No (Gangrene) video “Under Siege”. It seems like all these cats do is clown around and smoke good weed (nothing wrong with that). You will see some guest appearences by Evidence and Scott Cann.

Vinnie Paz Will “Drag You To Hell”

Here is the first leak off of Vinnie’s upcoming album The Assassin’s Creed. This joint was produced by long time Jedi Mind Tricks affiliate DJ Kwestion (who is absolutely dirty on the cuts by the way). As usually Vinnie spits some hardcore bars JMT style. Vinnie’s album is another one that I am highly anticipating, this guy is part of probably my most influential group of all time. Just some quality music from Illadelph.
