Damn these cats are incredible. I don’t really have to say much more than that. You all should do yourself a favor and watch some of the best cats in the game do their thing off the top of the knot.
I missed this fucking show because I was an idiot. My friend Aaron told me about Rock the Bells being at First Avenue awhile back. I didn’t even know that Rock the Bells was coming through Minneapolis until mid-July, and by that time it was just too late. It seems like all I do is miss out on shows that I want to go to, I really need to make some changes so I can see some more live music. Here is some live footage of the Slaughterhouse Machine performing at the First Ave. Rock the Bells stop in Minneapolis. On the above video you can catch the track “Fight Club”, and you can follow me after the jump to catch “Onslaught”. Continue reading →
Man, these guys are two of the dopest guys on the planet. Jabari was able to interview Evidence & Alchemist backstage at a recent Rock the Bells concert. I have to mention right away that I was laughing about 90% of the time because Alchemist is fucking hilarious. There are a lot of things touched on this interview and it gives you some great insight as to how busy both of them are. These guys have some of the best chemistry in the game, and it even shows in the interview how they feed off of each other.
EV talks about how he has been getting the respect that he set out to get, and how he is really happy at where he’s at even if the major media outlets don’t come his way. Alchemist speaks on how him and Evidence work so well together, and what it all comes down to, he also talks about his new album Chemical Warfare and how it’s going to have an elongated release. I don’t really think it’s necessary, but I’m going to say it anyways. I look forward to everything that these guys have to offer in the future.
DJ Semtex caught up to the Slaughterhouse Machine after their performance in Colorado. Some of the issues they discuss are how they write in the booth, how they avoid conflict (?), what it’s like to have the coastal unity and much much more. You are going to be seeing a lot of media about these guys with the album they just put out, shit’s ridiculous.
If you haven’t seen Supernaturl spit a freestyle, you’re missing out. He’s definitely one of the dopest and most entertaining people on stage. Here’s a clip I found on youtube, courtesy of iomosmarad of Supernat at Rock the Bells in NYC. Follow me after the jump for another RTB video from Common’s set doing Black Star’s “Respiration” with Talib Kweli.
Mickey Factz and his cameraman made this collection of clips and interviews from RTB ’09 in Chicago on June 27th. I saw Mickey rock the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival last summer and he packs a ton of energy into his performance. This video shows him performing at RTB and clips of interviews with Talib Kweli, ?uestlove, and Slaughterhouse. Check it! Shout out to okayplayer.
Peter Parker pulled Royce Da 5’9″ & Crooked I aside to chat with them at Rock the Bells in Boston. 1/2 of the Slaughterhouse beast talks about why everyone came together to make this record, despite the fact that they all have solo careers. Royce gives a great response when Mr. Parker asks him if there is competition when it comes to spitting in the booth for the Slaughterhouse record. He replies that it’s more about everybody bringing their A-Game (which is mad dope). As I keep stressing over and over, August 11th is going to be bonkers. Follow me after the jump to watch Joell Ortiz talking with Mr. Parker as well. Continue reading →
This whole beef has been going on for awhile now, and it has honestly kept me on the edge of my seat. My man Nolan posted the video with Raekwon last week, and now I found this video over at 2DopeBoyz of Royce saying the beef is over at Rock The Bells. Not only does Royce say the beef is over, but he speaks the truth as he gives Wu-Tang props and calls them legends. It’s good to see that the beef was able to be squashed because there is just no need for that shit in Hip-Hop (although it does sell records).
After Joe Budden dissed Method Man’s lyrical abilities, Inspectah Deck released a song in retaliation and here at Rock the Bells ’09 in DC, Deck and Raekwon talk about their beef with Joe Budden. Personally, I don’t think this is the way to handle the problem, complaining about him on stage after quesitoning Budden’s “manliness” for not confronting them in person. After the stage performance, Raekwon sits down with undergroundhiphop.com to discuss the beef.
Are you jumping on the Slaughterhouse hype like I am? Well if you are, you certainly do not want to miss this video. Thanks to the guys over at 2DopeBoyz we have over 15 minutes of Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5’9″, Joe Budden & Crooked I tearing apart the stage at this year’s Rock The Bells in DC. After watching a video like this and hearing the tracks they’ve been putting out, I can’t wait to hear the album. If you sleep on this one you should be done for.
