Here is the latest video from Slum Village off of their upcoming album Villa Manifesto. The direction on the video was done by Dwele, and you might notice himself and Black Milk making cameos in this one. I can assure you I will be copping the new Slum Village shit when it drops. Will you?

DJ Semtex caught up to the Slaughterhouse Machine after their performance in Colorado. Some of the issues they discuss are how they write in the booth, how they avoid conflict (?), what it’s like to have the coastal unity and much much more. You are going to be seeing a lot of media about these guys with the album they just put out, shit’s ridiculous.

This video had me in stitches the whole time I watched it. XXL has a game show called I Know Rap People, and to commemorate the release of the Slaughterhouse album, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9″ & Joe Budden all were guests on the show. The guys answer questions about their own group, and the internet in general. The answers these guys throw out there will have you laughing your ass off. Make sure you go get that Slaughterhouse album now.

Ghostface Discusses Fishscale

I really wish my man Ryan was still around, because he would absolutely love this video. In this video Ghost breaks down what is probably his most critically acclaimed album, Fishscale. In the video he says that he went into this album having doubts about being able to write not smoking weed. He also mentions how he switched up the production on Fishscale to a more “underground feel” which included Pete Rock, DOOM, J Dilla & Just Blaze. I love hearing Ghost talk about Dilla & the “Whip You With a Strap” beat. He said he heard it and he felt as though he had to conquer it right away, and for him to lay down special meaning with his mom is some real ass shit.

Crooked I is Hip Hop Official’s Artist of the Week

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by Tim Althaus

I was just talking with a couple buddies today about Crooked I. I feel like I have slept on this dude for soooo long, and now I’m paying for it. Crooked I might be one of the nastiest emcees I’ve ever heard with wordplay. I was telling my buddy Motz today that I don’t even think it’s fair that Crooked gets to rhyme because he’s so good. Every time that I listen to the Slaughterhouse record it seems like more often than not his verses stick out like crazy. Crooked I is known for his connection with Death Row, and his Hip Hop Weekly tracks where he released a track every week of the year for a year. This guy is a fucking beast on the microphone, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone quite like him. Do yourself a favor, watch this video and click the Hip Hop Weekly link and be amazed.

Wild Style Wednesday Review: Little Brother, The Minstrel Show

Posted in Music Reviews, Wildstyle Wednesdays with tags , , , , , , , , , , on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by Tim Althaus

minstrel1frLittle Brother is probably one of my favorite groups that I’ve ever heard. When 9th Wonder, Big Pooh & Phonte are all together in rare form on an album, they remind me of a force that nothing in this world could possibly stop. I personally am a big fan of The Listening & Getback, but I think these guys are in their top form on The Minstrel Show. Everything about this album is desirable, 9th Wonder’s beats on this album are more soulful than ever, and Te’s & Pooh’s rhymes are most definitely the most on point that they’ve ever been. Another thing that makes this album exceptional is that it’s a concept album that is done the right way. Albums like this make me think that if these guys would have stayed together they could have been one of the greatest trios in Hip-Hop history. Continue reading

Slaughterhouse Talks About Contenders

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz & Royce Da 5’9″ stopped by Hard Knock TV to talk about their new album, and give some insight into who they think would be a 4 man group that could content. I love how Joell is just wylin’ out the whole time, and the rest of the guys give some serious answers. I am really surprised that no one mentions eMC (why does everyone sleep on eMC?). If you haven’t copped the Slaughterhouse album yet, there truly is no hope left for you.

Joe Budden, “No Comment” & “Clothes on a Mannequin”

escape-route-cover-art

Joey’s Escape Route dropped today and thanks to 2DopeBoyz we have two more leaks off of the album. We heard “No Comment” in an earlier post, but that was only radio rip quality, and “Clothes on a Mannequin” is one that we haven’t heard yet. J. Cardim produced both of the tracks, and as usual you can expect Budden to be spitting his heart out. If you haven’t you can cop Escape Route over at Amalgam Digital.

*Side Note: I know a lot of people have been hating on Budden a lot lately. Either way you look at the situation going on right now… Budden is a damn good lyricist.

Masta Ace & EDO G are A&E

A&E

I have to thank the homie Shake (as I have numerous times in the past) for this one. I had been catching of Masta Ace’s tweets awhile back about working on a project with EDO G. Thanks to the guys at 2DopeBoyz we have the first leak off of their LP Arts & Entertainment which is due to hit shelves on October 6th. There will be guest appearances from Large Professor, Posdonus, KRS-ONE, DOITALL (Lords of the Underground Crew) as well as Chester French & Marsha Ambrosious. I just listened to this first track “Little Young” and it’s phenomenal, and the concept is funny as hell. Is it just me or has M-Phazes been pumping out heat rocks since A Pipe Dream & a Promise? Follow me after the jump to download the track “Little Young” & peep the tracklisting for Arts & Entertainment. Continue reading

slaughterhouse-718945

That the new Slaughterhouse record drops. Joey’s Escape Route officially drops today as well. I can assure you that in about an hour and a half I will be happily making my way to Best Buy to purchase the Slaughterhouse album. If you are one of the people that isn’t going to be making a purchase… I truly feel sorry for you. For all of you Slaughterhouse haters out there, pull your head’s out of your asses.
