I’ve heard tell of a Halloween themed mini-festival taking place at Honey (NE), Thursday, Oct 23rd. Now I know it’s that time of year when the witching hour takes full effect, but fear not! Come out and celebrate with local artists, music, and some booze. Perchance the headless horseman will ride again. It’s party time, and you don’t want to miss out (avoid FOMO). There will be a wide variety of up-and-coming local acts, and maybe even a scary storytelling contest. Wear a costume, bring a friend, listen to some music, and have a few drinks- you earned it. I mean, You Only Live Once… Have some fun before it’s Christmastime; autumn is for hell raising and party making, not going to bed early.

Milky Chance- Stolen Dance

I turn my radio up when it comes on. Milky Chance is essentially great at creating a catchy and lazed sound. I appreciate the pureness of the guitar, the simplicity of the beat, and the touching vocals- the main hook. I look forward to hearing more from Milky Chance (Vote for Milky Chance as “Best German Act” at MTV EMA.). Enjoy.
Eric Mayson – Isolation
Posted in News with tags big cats!, Eric Mayson, Homeless, Isolation, John Lennon Cover, minnesota, MPLS, Production, Sound Cloud, twin cities, Twin Cities Music on Thursday, August 21, 2014 by sir minivan dadDirectly from Big Cats’ Facebook Page: “Eric Mayson is one of the most important musicians in the Twin Cities right now.
He and I recently recorded this cover of my favorite John Lennon song, Isolation.
It brings a fresh perspective to a song that’s as relevant today as it was when it was written more than 40 years ago.
Please take a moment to listen and share if it resonates with you.”
I took the opportunity to listen, and loving John Lennon, covers (in general), and being a fan of Big Cats, I thought I would share. Have a listen to this wonderful take on a classic. The production value lends itself a bittersweet mood, along with Eric Mayson’s powerful vocals; ‘Isolation’ is an ambient and touching song.
Enjoy-

… Sonny Knight was, and is great. He came across as the kind of guy who comes from bygone era, while effectively staying relevant. His music has life. He utilized three backup singers and a full band, he was doing it right. At the peak of the numbers in the crowd, Sonny rocked the stage like a champion. The best song of the day was “Hey Girl”, naturally, but even less familiar songs moved those in attendance. From behind the performers looking out, one could see raw excitement, and the power which Sonny sustained. His set was charged and intimate, and precisely electric. It was a pleasant and unexpected surprise, having never seen him before.
Sonny played for some time, and then the show was over. The crowd was pleased. I exited the stage at about the same time in hopes of having a one-on-one conversation with the artist. I ran around back as he was being mobbed by fans and snapped at with cameras. He took time for the adoration and with a broad smile he vanished. Sonny was something; to me, he seemed like a classic soul singer from the distant past, yet he was thriving in 2014. I wondered where his time machine was parked. Searching, I found nothing…
