In this issue of the Second Supper we explore the lights and glamour of the movies in Hollywood. In this issue you will find of course the usual articles (Top 7, Social Networking, College Sucks & Y Marks the Spot), but you will also find articles that have to do with movies because the people at the Second Supper know you love them.
The first movie related article you will notice is the movie quote quiz. I must admit that some of these are actually pretty tough, I went through them and could only get a few of them at first glance. Amber Miller also makes a great point about which gender’s skin you tend to see more in movies, and she takes a pretty in depth look at the issue. There is also an interview with Joan Juster an independent film maker from San Francisco (director and producer of Alaska Far Away) about the content of her movie as well as the process of making it. You can also read an overview of the Frozen River Film Festival by Adam Bissen.
Be sure to also look towards the back of the issue because you will also get your normal assortment of crossword puzzles, reviews, comics and mazes. Another quality issue from the quality alternative newspaper from the Coulee Region area. Video: Evidence Freestyle @ Fat Beats L.A.

Here is a video of Evidence freestyling over a classic beat by Alchemist at Fat Beats during an instore. Notice that EV is great when it comes to rhymes off the top of the head. This guy has absolutely torn the game apart the last two years and it’s no wonder. He’s a beast.

Audio: N.A.S.A. – “The Mayor” featuring The Cool Kids, Ghostface Killah, Scarface, and DJ AM

While more and more material from North America South America, better known as N.A.S.A, leaks out I get more an more anxious to listen to the whole disc front to back. The beyond ambitious group is making noise amongst all crowds with prior leaks featuring Lil Wayne and another featuring Chuck D, not to mention tracks that feature Tom Waits and Karen O.
This track though comes close to being the best leak thus far. “The Mayor” is a track that bangs from front to back, reminding listeners of what rap and hip-hop infused can really result in. The collaborative effort is astonishing considering the amount of talent on one track. I’ve gotta say that Ghostface takes the cake and really makes the track, which is somewhat disappointing for high my hopes were for the Cool Kids on this album.
Give a listen for sure though, and be sure to check out the album release February 17th on Squeak E. Clean records

MPLS show: Solid Gold, Military Special @ Uptown Bar
Posted in Concert Dates on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 by Ryan Buege
Wednesday is a good night for cheap entry fees and cheap drinks. Come over to the Uptown Bar tonight to check out a nigth of the best electro-rock that Minneapolis has to offer; local up-and-coming crowd-pleasers Solid Gold will be headlining the event (with live and dj sets), and Military Special will provide support. The music starts at 9:30!
Solid Gold is coming off a recent packed house show at the Turf Club that had the entire audience moving, and they’ve got a higher profile gig scheduled next week opening for Tape ‘N’ Tapes in the First Ave. mainroom, so this is so good chance to catch them amped up and playing their spacy psychedelic electro pop-rock in their natural setting. For now, check out their bliss at their MySpace and watch Above the Fold‘s video recording of their breakout, “Get Over It”, at the Turf Club on January 16th.
I HIGHLY recommend click on the button in the lower right hand corner for High Quality!
