This is another great piece of news to wake up to this morning. Apathy (of the Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs, Get Busy Committee, etc.) will be releasing his new album Wanna Snuggle?, his sophomore follow up to Eastern Philosophy on October 6th. If you haven’t been acquainted with this guy, you need to. He’s a great emcee and he’s fucking hilarious on the microphone. I personally loved Eastern Philosophy, and I’ve been a fan since I heard him on JMT’s Psycho Social album. Anyways, I checked my BlackBerry this morning and found the leak for the first single “True Love” which features Phonte. This track is dope, and I highly suggest you guys check this shit.

I’ve been waiting for this since I initially heard about it, and I will give thanks to 2DopeBoyz as I have too many times in the past. 14KT is a producer out of the Lab Techs collective in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you haven’t heard about this guy I really do feel sorry for you. The beats that this guy has put out are nothing short of amazing. This is an album that 14KT has had done since 2006, when J Dilla passed away. Making these “donuts” was his way of coping with Dilla’s passing. In the video is a live performance of the track “Dimelthyltryptamine”, in which half contains a beat and the rest is acapella. I have to say this again, I’m extremely pissed I couldn’t make the Jay/MosDef show in Minneapolis.

Premo is easily one of the greatest producers in the history of the game. As many would say, if he co-signs it you know it’s straight fire. In his interview with As The World Spins, he tells us (which I am highly grateful to hear) that Royce’s album Street Hop will be hitting the streets on October 11th, and that there isn’t a Premo beat on the Slaughterhouse album because he was mixing Street Hop. DJ Premier also mentions that he is down to do a new Gang Starr album as soon as Guru is ready, because he loves the chemistry that they have together. It’s also great to hear Premier talk about what he would consider “real Hip-Hop”, he couldn’t be more right.

That’s right, Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle is going to be coming to First Avenue on August 26th. You can expect to see Freeway performing as well. The show is 18+ and the doors open at 8PM. There aren’t many up and coming emcees that have the hype that Fashawn has garnered for himself. He’s already got Evidence & Alchemist backing him like crazy, not to mention that he has a full length album coming out that is produced entirely by Exile. Needless to say, if you have had your ear to the ground for the the last year or so, you should know about Fash by now… I read an article on HipHopDX about this guy, and he seems like he is one hell of a worker when it comes to doing his thing.
Fashawn’s aforementioned debut album with Exile, Boy Meets World, is going to be pushed back to October because of personal issues that he has to tend to. According to the article, the fans can expect a lot of 90’s influence on this album from the likes of Common, Nas & Gang Starr. One can say that there may be great deal of nostalgia attached to this album.
All of you heads out there need not worry. Fashawn will be releasing a mixtape with Alchemist which will be coming soon. This is what Fash had to say about working with ALC, “Hanging around Alchemist all day, you know I’m hearing the best beats you can possibly imagine and I’m writing the craziest shit you can possibly imagine”.
It sounds like we can expect some bright things from Fashawn in the future, this guy seems to be the future of West Coast Hip-Hop right along the side of emcee Blu & Evidence. Make sure you stay tuned, I will have my eye open for any news that pertains to this guy.

Thank you to Shake over at 2DopeBoyz. This is just some raw footage of one of my favorite emcees and one of my favorite producers. News about Evidence never seems to get old to me, and it seems like Cats & Dogs is right around the corner. I haven’t been able to put Alchemist’s Chemical Warfare down for the last two weeks, it just keeps getting better after every listen. Make sure you guys watch out for the Step Brothers album coming out next year as well.
