This is some great video footage, and I can’t thank Crate Kings enough. J Rocc discusses the nature of Blues Music for the first couple minutes of the video and then breaks into his performance. If you haven’t ever heard J Rocc or the Beat Junkies you are pretty much dead to me, because they are nothing short of incredible. J Rocc performs with a live blues band at Guitar Center’s King of the Blues and scratches shit up like crazy. If you are a fan of turntablism or music in general you have to see this one.

Here is the latest video from Slum Village off of their upcoming album Villa Manifesto. The direction on the video was done by Dwele, and you might notice himself and Black Milk making cameos in this one. I can assure you I will be copping the new Slum Village shit when it drops. Will you?

DJ Semtex Interviews Slaughterhouse @ Rock The Bells
Posted in Media, Video with tags DJ Semtex, Rock the Bells, Slaughterhouse on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by Tim AlthausVodpod videos no longer available.
DJ Semtex caught up to the Slaughterhouse Machine after their performance in Colorado. Some of the issues they discuss are how they write in the booth, how they avoid conflict (?), what it’s like to have the coastal unity and much much more. You are going to be seeing a lot of media about these guys with the album they just put out, shit’s ridiculous.

This video had me in stitches the whole time I watched it. XXL has a game show called I Know Rap People, and to commemorate the release of the Slaughterhouse album, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9″ & Joe Budden all were guests on the show. The guys answer questions about their own group, and the internet in general. The answers these guys throw out there will have you laughing your ass off. Make sure you go get that Slaughterhouse album now.

Ghostface Discusses Fishscale
Posted in Media, Video with tags doom, Fishscale, Ghostface, J Dilla, Just Blaze, Pete Rock on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by Tim Althaus Vodpod videos no longer available.
I really wish my man Ryan was still around, because he would absolutely love this video. In this video Ghost breaks down what is probably his most critically acclaimed album, Fishscale. In the video he says that he went into this album having doubts about being able to write not smoking weed. He also mentions how he switched up the production on Fishscale to a more “underground feel” which included Pete Rock, DOOM, J Dilla & Just Blaze. I love hearing Ghost talk about Dilla & the “Whip You With a Strap” beat. He said he heard it and he felt as though he had to conquer it right away, and for him to lay down special meaning with his mom is some real ass shit.

Crooked I is Hip Hop Official’s Artist of the Week
Posted in Media, Video with tags Crooked I, Death Row, Hip Hop Weekly, Hip-Hop Official, Slaughterhouse on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 by Tim AlthausI was just talking with a couple buddies today about Crooked I. I feel like I have slept on this dude for soooo long, and now I’m paying for it. Crooked I might be one of the nastiest emcees I’ve ever heard with wordplay. I was telling my buddy Motz today that I don’t even think it’s fair that Crooked gets to rhyme because he’s so good. Every time that I listen to the Slaughterhouse record it seems like more often than not his verses stick out like crazy. Crooked I is known for his connection with Death Row, and his Hip Hop Weekly tracks where he released a track every week of the year for a year. This guy is a fucking beast on the microphone, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone quite like him. Do yourself a favor, watch this video and click the Hip Hop Weekly link and be amazed.

Joe Budden Wants to “Squaredance” with Raekwon
Posted in Media, Video with tags Escape Route, Joe Budden, Raekwon, Slaughterhouse, Squaredance, We Outta Here on Monday, August 10, 2009 by Tim AlthausHere is Joey’s vlog about all of the madness that ensued at Rock the Bells. Based on this video, I think that things could end up getting really fucking interesting. These guys are just taking this shit way too far.
On a brighter note you can download the track “We Outta Here” (which features Slaughterhouse) off of Joe’s album Escape Route here.

Raekwon Phone Interview + Blood On The Chef’s Apron Freestyle Video
Posted in Media, Video with tags Culture VI, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II, Raekwon, Slaughterhouse, The Chef on Monday, August 10, 2009 by Tim AlthausRecently (before the Joe Budden/Rock the Bells incident), Raekwon did a phone interview with Culture VI Media about OBFCL 2. Rae talks about what it was like to have such a classic album on his first release, and how it may have plagued his later releases. The Chef also talks about how he has grown as an artist, and what he thinks people expect out of him. In a somewhat startling beam of light, Raekwon reveals that he is a big fan of the Slaughterhouse movement and that he could see himself picking up their album. Follow me after the jump to grab the “Blood on the Chef’s Apron Freestyle” video. Continue reading
Ghostface & Raekwon Live @ The Nokia Theatre
Posted in Media, Video with tags Ghostface, ODB, Raekwon, Wu-Tang Clan on Monday, August 10, 2009 by Tim AlthausHere is some great footage of Ghost going through damn near the whole fucking Wu-Tang Clan catalog. The crowd goes absolutely crazy when he starts messing around with the ODB shit. You can hear the crowd singing pretty much the entire song, which shows just how loyal Wu fans can be. He also runs through “Triumph”, “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin’ to Fuck Wit” & he brings The Chef out for the rendition of “C.R.E.A.M.”. I haven’t had the pleasure, but I can’t imagine what it’s like to see Ghost & The Chef do a show together. These two just feed off of each other like crazy, and the energy the accrues could blow the roof off any venue.
