Extreme Noise Records has been holding down the punk rock scene in Minneapolis to its roots since it began 15 years years ago, and for their anniversary coming up they plan to reaffirm that to anyone who may have forgot! The reputable independent/co-op punk record shop has planned a 15th Anniversary concert itinerary at the Triple Rock Social Club that is sure to make any local crusty as giddy as a schoolgirl; for me, the biggest excitement from this recent announcement is knowing that the reunited crust-punk innovators of Amebix will be making an appearance in our fair city, but the awesomeness of none of these shows can be understated. Among others, the legendary punks The Kids, Shitkids, and many of Minneapolis finest names in underground punk will be some of the personalities to contribute the soundtrack for these shows in honor of ENR. The party begins at the end of April when influential reunited Minnesota hardcore heroes in Disembodied headline their reunion show with tech masters in Coalesce, and it will continue until the respected, reclusive d-beat hardcore punks in Tragedy finish up the festivities on July 11th.

So, what does Bassnectar mean? According to his website it means, “A freeform project that merges music, art, new media, social involvement, and community values; dedicated to a constantly-evolving ethos of collaborative creation, self-reinvention, and boundary-pushing experimentation.” My personal meaning is, “WOW, this guy FUCKIN’ ROCKS YOUR SOCKS OFF!”(Fist raised and pounding).
Grooving to a beat unmistakably of their own, Junior Boys kick off their North American tour on March 28th in Ontario, Canada. No need to worry though, they will be slowly steppin’ into First Ave on the 3rd of April. These slippery melodies are easy-on-the-ear, while allowing space to wander back to days of innocent youth. The track “Like a Child” is simple and fun, just like being a child. Soft vocals and subtle synths are enough to make any inner-child feel warm and cozy.
It’s sad to see some of the summer’s biggest festivals go under in this tail-spin of an economy, but the ones that are hopefully gonna stick around for a long time are getting their first line-up announcements. Lollapalooza, arguably the biggest festival of the entire year, and Pitchfork, both got some big line-up news this week, tempting fans to jump on tickets sales early. 
The Jesus Lizard will all be playing that first day, but with a little different and completely awesome new spin to it. The entire set lists that the bands will be playing will be voted on by the fans who buy tickets, which go on sale March 13th. A cool idea, an very cool idea. Some of the other acts that will be appearing throughout the rest of the weekend include the extremely popular Grizzly Bear, the National, Vivian Girls, Pharoahe Monche, the Walkmen, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Pitchfork always does an awesome job creating a line-up geared towards all listeners, and this year’s festival is looking to do the same thing. Coupled with the fact that a two day weekend pass is only 60 bucks, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this festival sell out earlier this year, gaining attendance from those music lovers out there who aren’t willing to spend upwards of 200 dollars to get to Lollapalooza.
