Tadgarden = Soundgarden + Tad Doyle – Chris Cornell

This my friends, is an extremely special video. What we have Tom Morello introducing right here is, for all intents and purposes, basically a Soundgarden reunion. It’s Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden with Tad Doyle of Tad, and it’s just what I needed. Holy fuckin’ shit, what a video! This makes me forget all about that pile of shit that Chris Cornell just put out. Here is the reintroduction of the Garden, with the classic “Hunted Down”:

“Spoonman” and “Nothing To Say” after the jump… Continue reading

P.O.S. covers Pearl Jam, “Why Go”

This video is just another testament to how talented Stef really is. This video shows him covering the Pearl Jam tune “Why Go”, and may I mind you it’s very impressive. I love how he has the MPC right next to his keyboard and he tears the shit out of both of them during the duration of the track. Make sure you go out and get Never Better now because that album is truly some great material.

Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek talk to HipHop Official at SXSW

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Man Kweli & Hi-Tek really have me anticipating the new Reflection Eternal album. This interview is making the anticipation grow at an alarming rate. Hi-Tek basically says that this new album is going to be the next level from the previous Reflection album, and that makes me really fucking excited. Notice how Kweli talks about updating their formulas with the times (Gang Starr shit). Hi-Tek says that the album is at a “strong 50%” which means that we should look forward to seeing it relatively soon. Also make sure you look close in the background, you can see Hi-Tek punching on the pads of the MPC in the background (are all producers doing this now?).

Early Man, Valient Thorr plot tour to crusade through Midwest in April

Anyone who’s anything more than a fringe listener of metal knows that thrash is back in a big way over the last few years, and it’s not just the classic bands who have propelled the rejuvenation of the thrash. In fact, it’s more likely that the formation of countless “revival” thrash acts such as Toxic Holocaust, Bonded By Blood, and Early Man reminded Metallica how to rock than the other way around (…one man’s POV…). While Exodus, Kreator, and Metallica all have tours coming through the area soon, it’s important not to overlook some of the excellent smaller thrash gigs that will be touring through the area. For instance, Warbringer will be playing a free show at Station 4 on Saturday, and now the boys in Early Man have booked a tour to come through the Triple Rock Social Club on the 20th of April!

For those still out of the loop, Early Man is a band known for their style of old school thrash and punk that’s both kick ass and super fun. These days, they’ve evolved past their two-man origins into a full-on, no-bullshit metal band, and thankfully the scale of their attack has only multiplied. Additionally, the guys in Valient Thorr will be there to open with a their own set of thrash, completing the package for one awesome night of low-cost rocking out and partying. If you’re still making plans for your 4/20 and don’t want to end up at the Cabooze with a bunch of stinky hippies, I strongly suggest you bring your herb buzz to this show to party with some dirty thrash punks instead!

All the tour dates are listed after the jump! See you there. Continue reading

Black Milk rocks Manchester

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Watching this video was pretty much the highlight of my day. It also makes me want to see a live Black Milk show more and more. Watch this video as he completely destroys his set and tears it up for the fine city of Machester. He starts off the set with one of my favorites from Tronic, “Long Story Short”, and then follows with “So Gone” which was a track from Popular Demand. I love when Black jumps on the MPC and starts playing around with the beat for “The Matrix”. This guy has some serious skills and there’s no reason you shouldn’t check this. If you haven’t picked up Tronic yet I don’t know if there’s any hope for you…

Where The Wild Things Are trailer released; music by Arcade Fire, score by Karen O

So this pretty much blew my mind, and turned a terrible day into a slightly displeasing one. I’ve been anxiously awaiting news from this movie, and for the release of course too, but I had not idea the news and trailer would be this amazing. So get your act together and watch the two minute trailer below. The video’s set to the beautiful (and slightly re-done) “Wake Up” by The Arcade Fire, and the film itself will be scored by the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O. Oh man, I’m foaming at the mouth over this. “There’s one in all of us”
