Speaking of Toki Wright, here is a great video of him performing the title track off of his latest effort A Different Mirror on 89.3 The Current. As you can see in the video, this dude can flow mad tight and has a great deal of talent. Please do yourself a favor and go pick up his album, he’s reppin’ hard for the Mighty Minneapolis. Thanks to the homie Shake on this one.

Posted in Media, Video with tags Black Milk, Black Milk Broadcast, Europe, The Matrix on Monday, July 13, 2009 by Tim AlthausTwitter is a beautiful thing isn’t it? I checked my Twitter feed on my Blackberry and noticed this video was posted by none other than Black Milk. This is the second video from his Black Milk Broadcast series, and this video features more amazing footage from Europe. The girl in the beginning of the video mentions that the show that Black put on was one of the best that the club has seen for awhile, when you see him go on stage you will definitely see how true that statement is. Yet again, I love seeing Black mess with the MPC on stage and chop shit up. The way that he enters into “The Matrix” is unreal.
The Sunday Show, Episode 10 “Grilling Out

Here is episode number 10 of your favorite podcast about nothing in particular and this week it just so happens to be about one of my favorite topics, grilling. To me there is really nothing better than firing up the grill with some steaks and burgers and sipping on some good beers. Watch The Sunday Show crew turn up the heat a little bit and cook up some super dank food!

Thanks to the homie Meka for posting this one. Here is the world premier for the Slaughterhouse video for “The One”, which was apparently supposed to premier tomorrow. Definitely a tight ass video, make sure you check it and keep your ear to the ground come August 11th because the Slaughterhouse album will be the shit.
Elzhi & Black Milk Break it Down for Splash Mag
Posted in Media, Video with tags 8 Mile, Black Milk, Elzhi, Hexmurda, Splash Mag on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 by Tim AlthausVodpod videos no longer available.
Here is a nice video of Elzhi & Black Milk backstage at one of their shows (does anyone know where the fuck I can get that shirt that Hex is wearing?) where they talk about a variety of issues with Splash Mag. The first thing they discuss is the movie8 Mile, Black breaks down what it was like around that time (how big of a spotlight it was on the D), and Elzhi reminisces on getting a check for being an extra in the movie (fuck he’s way better than Em, they should make a movie about him). Elzhi breaks down what Em was going for when he re-created the battle scene in 8 Mile at the Hip-Hop shop. Make sure you don’t miss this one, tons of valuable knowledge about the D here.

I caught this nice video in my e-mail inbox from Audio Treats. Finale stopped by Fat Beats and spoke a few words about his new album as well as how he feels about Hip-Hop. This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorite emcees, if you haven’t checked out A Pipe Dream and a Promise you are truly sleeping. You can follow me after jump for part 2 which has Finale spitting an acapella on the streets of LA. Continue reading
Black Milk Broadcast, Episode 1
Posted in Media, Video with tags Alchemist, Black Milk, Elzhi, Europe, Guilty Simpson, Hex Murda, Tronic on Friday, July 3, 2009 by Tim AlthausBlack Milk is one of my favorite performers there is, the guy is pretty much flawless when it comes to music. Apparently when Black was touring overseas (with Elzhi (the best emcee on the planet right now)), he decided to put together some footage and start a new video series. In this first episode you get an inside look in the studio with Black Milk, Alchemist, Guilty Simpson and Hex Murda. You will also get some great live footage of Black Milk performing, and some hilarious yet insightful behind the scenes footage. It’s great to see all of the people over seas showing Black Milk love, and they also love to drop the n-bomb. Make sure you stay tuned for the rest of the installments, because you know I will have them up at Mind Inversion.
Some fuzzy-summer-wave-popish music get videos: Wavves and Crocodiles
Posted in Monday Music Video Roundup with tags crocodiles, no hope kids, summer of hate, videos, wavves on Monday, June 29, 2009 by Erik BurgTwo of the better albums of the year, and two of the more surprisingly great releases of the year belong to Wavves and Crocodiles. Wavvves and Summer of Hate respectively came out of nowhere in 2009, and especially during these summer months, as their fuzzed out blaring grunge pop has captivated more than a few listeners. We’ll start with “Summer of Hate”, the title track off the Crocodiles album. It’s a slower and more methodic track than some of their other songs, but it’s bold and beautiful. The art direction for the video fits the genre as well, looking like something that may well have been produced in some dudes garage in Seattle in 1988.
And for the king of reverb, aka Wavves, aka Nathan Williams, “No Hope Kids” gets a fitting documentary-styled video. Composed of different clips from their first european tour, “No Hope Kids” not only describes the kind of life Wavves portrays, but it reflects the kind of lazy attitude that summer creates. The clips bring back awesome memories of their live set at The Entry, and after their meltdown overseas I wish Wavves the best of luck.
