Here is a new cut from two cats on Stones Throw’s roster. Medaphoar (AKA MED) & J-Rocc are teaming up to release a project. Thanks to 2DopeBoyz, we have the first track, “The What”, to gauge our listening. From what I’ve gathered listening to this track, it sounds like this project is going to be something to keep an eye on. I had no idea J-Rocc was such a beast on the boards.

Brother Ali, Joell Ortiz & Freeway are the “Best@it”

Damn, this track is borderline insane. As you all should know, Brother Ali has his newest album Us dropping this coming Tuesday, September 22nd. “Best@it” is the second leak that we’ve been able to obtain, and it features the Philly Freezer & Joell Ortiz alongside the Street Preacher Brother Ali. As you can expect Ant’s beat is ridiculous (which I’m sure it is on the rest of the album as well), and all three of the emcees featured spit top quality bars. I know that I said Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 was going to probably get album of the year, but I think this new Brother Ali album is going to be fucking epic. I can assure you I will be at the store next week, and you should be to.

Evidence Interview with 24/7 Hip-Hop

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Vodpod videos no longer available.
This is a gem that Nah Right uncovered. This Evidence interview is from roughly three years ago (20/20 era). The video starts off with a nice little performance of the Dilated track “Back Again”, which is definitely one of my favorites. After that, the interview starts and EV starts talking about the constants in Hip-Hop (which is evolution). EV also talks about how the labels get a cut in what seems like everything. I love how, even back then, Evidence was talking about wanting to carve his own path in the Hip-Hop game. Shouts to the dopest emcee/producer/advocate on the planet.

Killah Priest Shows “The 7 Crowns of God”

Thank you Shake. That’s right, Killah Priest is dropping his official follow-up to Behind the Stained Glass on October 20th. The album is entitled Elizabeth (Introduction To The Psychie), and “The 7 Crowns of God” is the first leak off of the album. The track goes hard as hell, and it reminds me of that classic Killah Priest that I know and love. If you’ve never heard Priest, you should truly be ashamed, definitely one of the best out there. This track highlights Priest’s story telling capabilities perfectly, you shouldn’t sleep on this.

Cymarshall Law Live @ Hip-Hop Kemp Footage x “New Wu” Freestyle

Vodpod videos no longer available.

In the above video you can catch Cymarshall Law tearing apart the Hip-Hop Kemp Festival in the Czech Republic. In the video you get a nice little cameo from Devin the Dude in the beginning as Cymar is breaking down the situation. Another surprise gem is getting to watch a little footage of Blu & Exile performing together, which I’m sure is an incredible experience. At the end of the video you get to see Cymar rocking hard on the stage. Follow me after the jump to hear Cymar ride over RZA’s “New Wu” beat. (It’s super dope) Continue reading

Masta Ace & EDO G (A&E), “A’s & E’s” (Feat. Marsha Ambrosious)

A&E

God I love getting treats in my e-mail inbox. This is the newest leak off of the Masta Ace & EDO G album, Arts & Entertainment. This track is called “A’s & E’s” and it features Marsha Ambrosious. Much like the first leak, “Little Young”, “A’s & E’s” has a theme that is super dope. Almost every word in Ace’s repertoire starts with an “A”, and everything EDO G rhymes with begins with an “E”.  October 6th folks….

Ziegfeld Theater

I wasn’t originally going to put this up, because people always say any publicity is good publicity. I am also pretty much positive that every single person in the Blogosphere has already touched on this topic. I do, however, feel that I must voice my opinion on Kanye West (as I have many times in the past) in a more professional manner.

Many of you that read this blog might feel that I am way out of my element. This is totally fine, because living in America we are all entitled to our own opinions. What I am posting here is an Opinion Editorial that I was required to write for one of my classes in school. I worked hard on it, and I truly mean what I say in this Op. Ed. Follow me after the jump to read my thoughts.

Mos Def, The Black Keys & Jim Jones – “Hoochie Coo”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Holy shit. As you all know I love Hip-Hop, but I also love The Black Keys. There is something about their music that is so dynamic, that it pulls me right in. Their heavy Blues riffs, and great lyrics made me fall in love with their music. When I headed over to 2DopeBoyz today, I found out that the Black Keys are going to be putting out an album with a bunch of Hip-Hop guest appearances. On the album you will find: Mos Def, RZA, Jim Jones, Q-Tip, Raekwon, Pharoahe Monch & more. The album will be dropping on November 27th, or Black Friday. The project will be called Black Roc, and Dame Dash will have a pretty big part in this album being released.

Good Lord, this album sounds like it’s going to be incredible. The first single “Hoochie Coo” dropped today, and it features Mos Def & Jim Jones. I can assure you that I already like the Black Keys infused beats that I am hearing on this track. I think this album is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Masta Ace & EDO G (A&E) Go Through the “The First 48” (Trailer)

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Sunday, September 13, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Talk about another album that I absolutely can’t wait for. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Mast Ace & EDO G are putting out their album, Arts & Entertainment, on October 6th. I can assure you that it is going to something that is definitely worth spending your hard earned money on. The concept for this video looks incredible, and the way the video is shot, it looks exactly like the show The First 48.

Pacewon & Mr. Green, “Four Quarters” (Video)

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , on Sunday, September 13, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Here is the newest video from Pacewon & Mr. Green for the track “Four Quarters” off of their album The Only Color That Matters is Green. As I mentioned in the album review post, The Only Color That Matters is Green is easily one of the top 10 albums of last year. “Four Quarters” is one of my favorite tracks off of the album, because it features epic production from Mr. Green and Pacewon spits some really nice bars. This is a post you most definitely don’t want to sleep on. WATCH. LISTEN.
