I am actually on vacation in lovely and sunny Florida right now. You may have noticed that I didn’t put up a review for Wildstyle Wednesday yesterday. I most likely won’t be doing any additional posting until Tuesday when I come home. I would like to leave you with some news that has come up the last few days for you to enjoy. Here is the latest leak off of Alchemist’s upcoming album, Chemical Warfare. On this track he brings along Gangrene collaborator Oh No, Roc C & West Coast King Crooked I. This is a damn good track, and by the leak that we heard before (“Smile“) you can tell that ALC is bringing the heat when it comes to the beats on this album. I have noticed on every track as of late to that his words are getting pretty nasty as well. Follow me after the jump for the download and make sure you go to your local record store and grab Chemical Warfare on July 7th. Continue reading

Alchemist Talks His Favorite Producing Emcees

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , on Monday, June 22, 2009 by Tim Althaus

As you may recall, I posted a video yesterday of Alchemist talking about a variety of issues with Nodfactor.com. This is another part of the video where he talks about his favorite producers who also emcee. I love to hear ALC’s input because producing emcees are my favorite cats in the game. He rattles off around 10 cats, and needless to say my favorites (J Dilla, Black Milk & Evidence) are surely in there.

Oh No & Alchemist are “Under Siege”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Thank god the first single is finally here. This track is off of Alchemist & Oh No’s project together known as Gangrene. I have been waiting for this project since I heard about the shit over a year ago. This album is really going to make a lot of heads turn when it drops. The beat in the background sounds very Oh Noish, and both emcees spit dope verses over the beat. I love the video idea of going 1992 on all of your asses. Can I say this again? Alchemist fucking kills it… “On some Steven Segal shit/salmonilla chicken I’m kickin that raw shit/for practice, so when you snack on this you get nautious”. Make sure you look close for a few well placed cameos (EV, Rakaa).

Alchemist Flashes a “Smile” With Twista & Maxwell

Here’s a single off of yet another album I can’t wait to get. Alchemist leaked the second track off of his new album Chemical Warfare entitled “Smile”. It features the R&B singer Maxwell and features the cunningly quick Twista on the mic as well. Is it just me or has Alchemist really been stepping up his rhyme game as of late? Make sure you check this one, Alchemist knows how to make some sick beats. You can also follow me after the jump to download the first leak off of Chemical Warfare featuring Eminem. Continue reading

Slaughterhouse To Release Debut Album July 7th

Posted in Music News with tags , , , , , , on Thursday, May 28, 2009 by Tim Althaus

slaughterhouse-missinfo It looks as though the most rhyme potent supergroup is going to be dropping their debut album on July 7th. Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9″ & Joe Budden, also known as Slaughterhouse, are going to be putting out a full length album. According to the Hip Hop DX article I read, they wrote the album in six days. The production will be handled by Alchemist, DJ Khalil & Mr. Porter which means you are going to hear some sick beats at the very least.

I can assure you that this album is going to be well worth the hard earned money you work for. On a seperate tip, this might be one of the most lyrically enhanced albums you will hear for a long time. This is one album I am highly looking forward to, if you love Hip-Hop you should be to.

These guys have been on fire as of late, and I don’t foresee them being put out anytime soon. This video is a great look into what both Evidence & Alchemist are feeling these days. Go with them on a day at Amoeba Records and check out the CD’s they are purchasing (Black Milk & Exile), as well as some of the vinyl that they are looking at buying.

Alchemist Talks to PowerPlayed.com

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , on Monday, May 4, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Vodpod videos no longer available.
Hey guys, sorry it has been so long since you have heard from me. I, just like Erik (and most likely Ryan), am falling victim of finals at school and have been sumbmursed in school related activities constantly for the last week. Not only that, but I haven’t really found too much very interesting in music news lately so I haven’t had the urge to write.

This video however is different. I spotted this one over at 2DopeBoyz. Alchemist sat down with the people over at PowerPlayed.com to discuss a variety of issues. I love how they use the beat for “Stuck On You” by Prodigy, it’s easily my favorite beat that Al has ever produced. He talks about his influences from the east and west coast and has a nice metaphor about the body and blood of Hip-Hop. Next he talks about how DJ Muggs basically got Alchemist introduced to Mobb Deep and started that connection going. The part I love about the video is it has a clip of Al building a beat in the studio for his upcoming album, he is a genius when it comes to making beats. Make sure you check this one out, and go out and get Chemical Warfare May 19th.

EV & ALC, “It’s Coming Down”

ev-alc

This might be the dopest track I’ve heard Evidence & Alchemist collaborate on, and it makes me want to hear their collabo album even more. The backdrop for this track comes from Exile’s album Radio which dropped this year. According to 2Dopeboyz, Evidence is going to be doing his thing over Exile’s beats off Radio and will be calling the project Evidence’s Radio. EV is just keeps giving me more and more shit to look forward to. I can’t keep saying enough that Evidence is taking over the game one project at a time. Do yourself a favor and check this track out. Did I mention that Alchemist completely slaughters this track?
