Clipse, Kanye West & DJ Khalil are “Kind of a Big Deal”

Posted in Downloads, Media with tags , , , on Monday, April 20, 2009 by Tim Althaus

clipse3 Here is a new one from the Thorton Brothers entitled “Kind of a Big Deal”. It is produced by DJ Kahlil and features none other than Kanye West. Despite my bias towards Kanye, I would have to say that he spits the best verse on this track. The beat that DJ Khalil puts down is ridiculous, and this track serves as a great opening to Til’ the Casket Drops.

Make sure you check out Malice, Pusha T & Kanye on the track because this one is pretty damn hot. I don’t know about you guys, but I can’t wait for Til’ the Casket Drops.

J Dilla X Black Thought = One Hell of a “Reality Check”

Posted in Downloads, Media with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on Monday, April 20, 2009 by Tim Althaus

jdilla I figured I would start off my posts today with a track that is worth hearing on 4/20. This track comes to us from the fine people over at Okayplayer. As I mentioned in a post a while back, Ma Dukes and Pete Rock are going to be putting out an album via Nature sounds on June 2nd entitled Jay Stay Paid. This is the first track that we have the pleasure of hearing, and it features Black Thought, one of the best emcees in the game. As usual you can expect a great beat from one of the all-time greats, and Black Thought rips through this beat like paper, all while making it seem so effortless.

This album sounds like it’s going to the spectacular, according to the article I read at OKP, Jay Stay Paid is going to contain mostly instrumentals (which I am totally okay with) but will feature an all-star cast of emcees. What emcees can you expect to hear on the ablum? Illa J, DOOM, Black Thought, Raekwon, Havoc, Blu & MOP. I don’t need to say a whole lot more about this album other than that if you don’t pick it up on June 2nd you are crazy.

evidenceHere is another track off of EV’s upcoming project Evidence Radio. This track just so happens to be over my favorite beat on Exile’s album Radio. At this point, I’m thinking that there isn’t anything that Evidence can’t do. Make sure you check out this dope ass track and stay tuned to more news on the Evidence Radio project because you know I’m patiently (or rather impatiently) waiting for it. This project is going to be nothing short of incredible guys, mark my words. This is just more great music from the “Left Coast” for you to bob your head to.

Also if you are lucky enough, make sure you catch Evidence & Alchemist at Rock the Bells this year.

wildstyle

This is an idea that I have been thinking about for the last month or so. Wild Style  is a “throw back” if you will, and a classic that will never be forgotten in Hip-Hop. What I want to do every Wednesday here at Mind Inversion is review an album that in my opinion is a classic, or rather an album I will never forget. In another note all of the albums that I review are going to have been released before 2008. I hope you guys enjoy my weekly column, and if you have any comments please feel free to leave them.

Illogic Has Diabolic Fun With Slug, Aesop & Zerostar

illogic03 Hearing this track takes me back to the “Hold Mine” days. There is nothing like hearing Illogic, Aesop Rock & Slug together again. As the homie Shake said over at 2Dopeboyz, it would be incredible for Blueprint and Eyedea to jump on the wagon for an Orphanage reunion. This track is pretty much lights out on every verse. Zerostar is an emcee from Ohio who is an artist on Weightless Recordings. He spits a raw verse, and I wouldn’t be suprised to be hearing big things from him in the future.

Make sure you go out an get Illogic’s new album Diabolical Fun which is out now via Weightless.

chaliHere’s a new one from Jurassic 5 front man Chali 2na. This joint, “Lock Shit Down”, features the always legendary Talib Kweli. Succinctly put, it features two legendary emcees over a dope beat. You do the math yourself. Shout outs to 2Dopeboyz for having this one up. Look out for the 2na Fish’s solo effort Fish Outta Water due out sometime in the future.

Stones Throw x Ed Banger = Pure Insanity

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Here is some awesome video footage from the recent tour that Stones Throw and Ed Banger have embarked on. Each of the labels brought out some of their new talent and toured the fine continent of Europe. Stones Throw brought James Pants, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam Funk & label owner (as well as bomb ass DJ) Peanut Butter Wolf. Who was repping for Ed Banger you might ask? DJ Mehdi, Busy P (also known as Pedro Winter (Ed Banger Label owner)) & DSL is the answer. If you watch the video, you can tell that every one of these shows looks like a non-stop party. I wish I could say that I was fortunate to be in Europe and see these two labels team up. No dissapointments here. Make sure you have your dancing shoes on because after watching this one you may have the urge to get down.

elzhi-2

This guy just keeps the hits coming one after another. Here is another clip from the track “The World Is Yours” off of his new project Ellmatic. I don’t feel as though I really need to say much more than that. This guy is probably the best emcee in the game right now. Stay tuned to Mind Inversion for news on the mixtape, you will know about it as soon as I do.

Kanye is a “Gay Fish”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This video is straight up hilarious. Apparently Matt Stone & Trey Parker thought that Kanye would be the best celebrity to go after next. For all of you who didn’t get the chance to see this, here it is folks the full episode. When I watched this I was pretty much crying I was laughing so hard, “Kanye you like to eat fish dicks!”. What did Ye have to say about the episode? “I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I’M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I’M UP FOR CHALLENGE”. All I have to say is good luck Kanye, I think it’s gonna be harder for me than anyone for you to convince.
