Evidence goes to the far left once again

ev-2 Here we are with another straight fire laced track by Evidence featuring Fashawn and Alchemist. As you may recall, both of these two emcees complimented Evdience on the original “Far Left“, and “The Far Left 2” is no different. I have to say that out of the three emcees on this track (with no disrespect to any of them) Fashawn steps up his game the most. Fashawn is one of those cats that you are going to be hearing me talk about quite a bit (especially when Boy Wonder drops) in the future.

All of these cats have new projects coming out this year so make sure you watch out for those because every single one of these albums is going to be top fucking quality. “The Far Left” is taking over Hip-Hop this year it seems.

Method Man & Redman take you behind the scenes of “International”

This is a nice look behind the scenes of Method Man & Redman’s new video for the single “International” off of their upcoming LP Blackout 2. Every single time I watch a video with Red & Meth I end up laughing my ass off, and this one is no different. Makre sure you check out this video (it had me in stitches) and double make sure you pick up Blackout 2 when that shit drops.

Del to drop FREE album!

Here is a sigh of relief to this of you who have been hating the recession as of late. It appears as though Del The Funky Homosapien (of Hiero & Deltron 3030 fame) will be dropping a free album on April 7th entitled Funk Man (The Stimulus Package). He apparently will also be dropping even more material for free in the near future. Make sure you jump over to this site to grab the album on April 7th.

I posted the first part of this video series earlier when Stef had performed the track “Goodbye” off of his new album Never Better. This second part here, has him performing the track “Savion Glover” with Plain Ole Bill and Mike Mictlan. Yet another great video from P.O.S. as he talks briefly in the beginning about the situation that he had when he was growing up as a kid. He tranisitions into the track real smooth with Mictlan as his hype man for the track.

Editor’s Note: Does anyone know where the hell I can get that hat that Mictlan is wearing?

Brother Ali brings the truth to Paid Dues 2009

I spotted this one over at Okayplayer today, and was quite pleased. This is a video of Brother Ali performing a few of his tracks at this year’s Paid Dues festival (“Bitchslap”, “Room With A View” & “Take Me Home”). As I’ve said before, Brother Ali puts on a damn good show and this video definitely proves it. I just wish that I could have been there to see not only Brother Ali, but the rest of the artists that represented for Hip-Hop at Paid Dues this year. For all of you that got to go to this, I am truly jealous. At the same time I am very happy for you, because you saw some great stuff.

Make sure you go out and grab Brother Ali’s newest effort The Truth is Here EP. The EP is good on so many levels and if you keep passing it over you will end up regretting it in the end.

DJ Premier talks about his origins

This is a great video interview that comes to you from Mass Denim & Hip-Hop.pl. This interview is focused mostly on the origins of Gang Starr and what was going on at that time, as well as Premo’s origins in production and major influences at the time. With both parts it’s just over 15 minutes long, but it is definitely time well spent. Premier is one of those guys that will never go out of style, because all he has is style. There is a reason why he is, and always will be one of the best producers the game has ever seen. Jadakiss, Ghostface & Reakwon? Get the hell out…

jadakiss1 I started seeing this track everywhere and I had to put something up about it, because it is just that good. I’ve been feeling Jadakiss since his days back in The Lox with Sheek and Styles. His last album, Kiss of Death was a raw ass record and I still bump that shit hard to this day. I don’t even really need to give introductions for Ghostface or Raekwon, so you can imagine just how sick this track is.

The track is called “Cartel Gathering”, and the beat is pretty much ridiculous. All of these emcees showcase their top effort, and Ghost is the first to take off, “Don’t be afraid of the New York Street talk/I switch gear all day bro, like you do in your peach Porsche”. Rae follows suit very nicely, “…That was the 90’s/Chef era take over America/bag Ugly Betty up and make her Ms. Ferrera”. Continue reading →

Vimby catches up with Evidence

It’s always good to see and hear new things about EV in the news. The people over at Vimby caught up with Evidence and discussed a variety of issues, including Cats & Dogs. He also discusses how The LAyover was more of a darker album because of the focus of the content (his mother), and lately he has been finding himself making up beat stuff. I like how he talks about performing his material to the fans (EV PLEASE COME TO MINNESOTA AGAIN), and how a live performance might be able to give even more of a visual. It’s also always good to see EV in the studio with Fashawn because you know he’s going to be huge on the scene soon, and it’s great to see EV bringing him into the spotlight.

Exile & DJ Day duel with MPCs

I’ve posted a few videos with Exile on his trusty MPC, but this one is just bananas. This is the “Dope Man” routine that Exile & DJ Day do together live on stage. This is some insane beat work that these guys are doing and it just amazes how good they are with the MPC. This video is only one minute and forty seconds long, but to be honest that’s all you really need to comprehend how good these two are. Make sure you check out Exile’s album Radio which dropped back in January, it’s damn good.

Apparently Mos Def is the biggest DOOM fan… ever

mos-def-image Mos Def apparently is the new biggest DOOM fan I’ve ever seen (next to my man Abe), in this video he effortlessly spits DOOM verses all over the place and then talks about them. He also laughs his ass off a lot when he is talking about the DOOM verses. It’s funny that he laughs a lot, because when I listen to DOOM I am always laughing my ass off (in a good way).

Mos Def takes his adoration for the artist one step further and says that he would put a million dollars on DOOM Vs. Lil’ Wayne. I think I would probably toss my money in on DOOM as well, the guy has some of the funniest rhymes I’ve ever heard in my life.

Make sure you watch out for Mos Def’s new album The Ecstatic due out this spring. Don’t forget that DOOM also has a new album out, Born Like This. Stay tuned to Mind Inversion because we will have a review of Born Like This very soon.
