I don’t think posting about this guy is ever going to get old. Black Milk was over in Den Haag (The Netherlands) for the iLoveHipHop Festival to tear apart the stage and bring a little bit of Detroit to Europe. In the first video above there is a nice lengthy intro of some of Black’s best work (in my opinion, I love the beat to “Sound of the City”) and then he jumps right into “Long Story Short” with full force. The thing that I’m loving about this video is that Black is performing with a live band, which is something that is truly amazing to see at a Hip-Hop show. Follow me after the jump to watch the other two videos featuring “Losing Out” & “Sound The Alarm”. Continue reading

Black Milk Brings Detroit to the Den Haag iLoveHipHop Festival

Posted in Media, Video with tags Alchemist, NYU on Thursday, July 16, 2009 by Tim AlthausI’m pretty sure this video is making the rounds on the internet like wildfire. This video is mad tight, and it features Alchemist making beats back in the 90’s in his room at NYU. You can see that his tools of the trade at that time were stacks of vinyl, an ASR-10 & the classic Technic 1200’s. It just goes to show that Al has been a beast ever since he’s been on the scene.

Wu-Tang beef with Joe Budden escalates at Rock the Bells 2009
Posted in Media, News, Video with tags Inspectah Deck, Joe Budden, Raekwon, Rock the Bells, Rock The Bells 2009, Wu-Tang Clan on Thursday, July 16, 2009 by Nolan LevensonAfter Joe Budden dissed Method Man’s lyrical abilities, Inspectah Deck released a song in retaliation and here at Rock the Bells ’09 in DC, Deck and Raekwon talk about their beef with Joe Budden. Personally, I don’t think this is the way to handle the problem, complaining about him on stage after quesitoning Budden’s “manliness” for not confronting them in person. After the stage performance, Raekwon sits down with undergroundhiphop.com to discuss the beef.
Skillz Brings You Hip-Hop Confessions, Episode 2
Posted in Media, Video with tags DJ B*Ryte, DJ Babey Drew, Hip-Hop Confessions, Skillz on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 by Tim AlthausVodpod videos no longer available.
This is the second video in the Hip-Hop Confessions series. I caught the first video a while back, and I think it’s a really great thing that Skillz is doing with the Hip-Hop community. He has fellow people from the Hip-Hop community (as well as himself) confessing to things that most people would have never guessed. On this episode he brings along Virginia natives DJ Babey Drew & the lovely DJ B*Ryte. I think on the first episode Skillz confessed that he had never purchased an Outkast record, which is a tough one for a lot of people to say. There is a lot of truth being said here, and you will probably get quite a few good laughs out of watching this one. Watch part one after the jump. Continue reading

As many of you know, Freeway & Jake One are going to be releasing a new album on Rhymeasayers Entertainment called The Stimulus Package. According to 2DopeBoyz, “Blogger” is the first leak off of the album. Freeway puts in his two cents on all of the bloggers out there on the inter-highway. I can assure you I am highly anticipating this album after hearing this track. Don’t sleep folks, don’t sleep.

Posted in Audio, Downloads with tags DJ JS-1, Ground Original (No Sellout 2), Masta Ace, OC, Pharoahe Monch on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 by Tim Althaus
Here is another guy that all of you shouldn’t even think about sleeping on. DJ JS-1 just dropped his album Ground Original (No Sellout 2), and from what I’ve heard it’s the real deal. There are so many great guest appearances that I had to check this one out; to name a few: Copywrite, EMC, Aesop Rock, Vast Aire & many more (not to mention the emcees on the tracks posted). He just dropped a remix of the track “Ridiculous” that features Masta Ace, Pharoahe Monch & OC. If you have had any doubts about this album at all just take a listen to this track and I think you may be singing a slightly different tune.
Also Download:
DJ JS-1, “Nuthin” (Feat. Brother Ali, Sadat X & C.L. Smooth)
DJ JS-1, “Murder” (Feat. Killah Priest, Sean Price & Chino XL)

Thanks to the guys over at 2DopeBoyz we have over 15 minutes of Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5’9″, Joe Budden & Crooked I tearing apart the stage at this year’s Rock The Bells in DC. After watching a video like this and hearing the tracks they’ve been putting out, I can’t wait to hear the album. If you sleep on this one you should be done for.

Here is the fourth video off of Stef’s new album Never Better. It’s for his track “Purexed”, and yet again I absolutely love the cinematography in this video. All of the videos that P.O.S. has been putting out have been very impressive. Make sure you check this video out, super dope shit and thanks to Shake on the look for this one.

Exile & DJ Day’s Tribute to Michael Jackson
Posted in Media, Video with tags DJ Day, Exile, Michael Jackson, MPC on Monday, July 13, 2009 by Tim AlthausIf you’ve never seen these two minipulate an MPC live you are truly missing out. I posted a video a while back of these two playing MPCs on a live act that they were doing on tour. This is a video of Exile & DJ Day practicing their tribute to Michael Jackson in their hotel room the day after he passed. It’s amazing how well these guys have mastered the MPC, and to be honest they are probably some of the best in the game. Notice at the end (after putting down 2 straight minutes of beauty) they say that it’s a work in progress. I can tell you now that I can’t wait to see the final product.

Thanks to the homie Shake on this one.
