Wu-Tang Clan is one of the most influential groups in the history of Hip-Hop music. GZA (in my opinion) is the best emcee (although they are all incredible) in the group, so it would make sense to say that he is one of the most influential emcees of all-time. The album Liquid Swords is nothing short of a lauded lyrical masterpiece, and every single track on this album is sonically sound. Not only is this one of the greatest Wu-Tang related albums ever released, it is one of the greatest albums in Hip-Hop history. RZA’s production on this album is ridiculous, not to mention the samples on this album fit the tracks tighter than a hipster’s t-shirt, and GZA’s rhymes are legendary in every aspect of the word. I’ve been posting a lot about this lately (I apologize for those that don’t care) but I still can’t get over how good the Cool Kids / Camp Lo / F. Stokes show was on August 30th at SOBs. Here’s some footage of the Cool Kids set, performing “Champions” of the Gone Fishing mixtape with Don Cannon. Follow me after the jump for “Gold and a Pager”.

So last night, I had the pleasure of attending the Cool Kids show in NYC last night at SOBs. The show was EXCELLENT. Easily one of the best hip hop shows I’ve been too. Soo much fun. The Cool Kids absolutely DESTROYED the venue and are awesome guys. I got to meet a bunch of people after the show. Great times all around with some nice surprises including Nice and Smooth and Paper Tiger of Doomtree. Follow me after the jump for some more photos and details.
Big L Documentary, Street Struck: The Big L Story, Coming Soon
Posted in Media, Video with tags Big L, Lamont Coleman, Street Struck: The Big L Story on Monday, August 31, 2009 by Tim AlthausNow this is what I am talking about. It’s about time someone decided to make a movie about Big L. The dude is a legend in the game, and if he was with us right now he would probably be strong holding everyone. There will be a documentary coming out called Street Struck: The Big L Story, and I can assure you that it will be good. This is the trailer, and it has a lot of people that knew Big L, as well as people that were influenced by him. It’s definitely great to see Jin in the movie, I haven’t seen him forever but he’s incredibly dope. I can assure you I will be making the purchase when this comes out.

Chace Infinite Paves “The Path”
Posted in Audio, Downloads with tags Chace Infinite, DJ Khalil, I Still Kill, Self Scientific, The Path on Monday, August 31, 2009 by Tim Althaus
Here is another guy that you should never think about sleeping on. Chace Infinite is one half of Self Scientific with DJ Khalil, and he’s a fucking crazy good emcee. If you haven’t gotten acclimated with him yet, you definitely need to do so. On this track, “The Path”, Chace rocks over Khalil’s beat that he did for 50 Cent “I Still Kill” and talks about the path that Allah has laid for him in life. This is definitely some dope material, and it will be featured on Chace’s upcoming mixtape I WOULD HAVE KILLED THIS… which I can assure you will be nothing short of amazing.

Brother Ali Speaks on Downloading Vs. Buying Music
Posted in Media, Video with tags Brother Ali, Pyracy, Rhymesayers Entertainment, US on Monday, August 31, 2009 by Tim AlthausDefinitely some great material here. In this Vlog, Brother Ali touches on his thoughts about downloading music (illegally) as well as buying it in tangible form. I’m pretty sure that I agree with every single thing that Brother Ali says. I will admit, I definitely download music when I don’t have the cash to buy hard copies. But I can assure you that I buy CD’s as well, and I go to as many shows as I can to show support. The point that he makes about all of the finances that go into putting albums out is really good, and I think everyone should think about that. This is just one of the many reasons that Ali is one of the best emcees out there.

I didn’t think so. This is a really good interview with The Chef where he skews a bunch of different topics. He talks about how the new Cuban Linx is going to be different than the last one, his thoughts on Larry Davis and how he was killed and some insane shit that you might not have expected to hear about Biggie. I highly suggest you check out this video, there are a lot of really good topics covered in this one. Make sure you go out and get Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 on September 8th.

Slaughterhouse Performs “Fight Club” @ First Ave Rock the Bells Show
Posted in Media, Video with tags Fight Club, First Avenue, minneapolis, Onslaught, Rock the Bells, Slaughterhouse on Monday, August 31, 2009 by Tim AlthausI missed this fucking show because I was an idiot. My friend Aaron told me about Rock the Bells being at First Avenue awhile back. I didn’t even know that Rock the Bells was coming through Minneapolis until mid-July, and by that time it was just too late. It seems like all I do is miss out on shows that I want to go to, I really need to make some changes so I can see some more live music. Here is some live footage of the Slaughterhouse Machine performing at the First Ave. Rock the Bells stop in Minneapolis. On the above video you can catch the track “Fight Club”, and you can follow me after the jump to catch “Onslaught”. Continue reading

Brother Ali discusses “Us”
Posted in News with tags Brother Ali, Rhymesayers, US on Sunday, August 30, 2009 by Nolan LevensonOn Friday, Brother Ali sat down with HipHopDX to discuss Us (out so soon! – Sept 22nd). Ali discusses some of the tracks, the new feel of the album, the new topics of the album, and his relationship with his fans. As he has discussed in the past, he ponders why his fans are in such a different social group than the people he grew up with. Follow me after the jump for the entire interview (it’s definitely worth reading).
