Shouts to Crate Kings on this bomb ass video. Pete Rock recently sat down with Zeke The Freak (Peter Parker’s producer) to talk about how the whole Jay Stay Paid album came together, and how close he was to Dilla. He also talks about the new projects he is working on which include Petestrumentals 2 & a new Soul Survivor album. This is some truly great news, Pete is one of my favorite producers, and I can assure you that these projects are going to be ridiculous. Make sure you stay tuned for more news on the #1 Soul Brother.

Here is the second leak off of Sky’s upcoming album, The Salvation. This joint is called “Popularity” and it is produced by none other than Nottz. The beat on this track is absolutely nuts, and if you know anything about Skyzoo, you know that the lyrics are going to be straight fire as well. Make sure you go out and support some real Hip-Hop on September 29th when Sky’s album drops.

Here is yet another cut from Fashawn & Alchemist off of the mixtape The Antidote, which drops tomorrow. This track is called “Lost in New York”, and it comes to us from Meka over at 2DopeBoyz. Much like the track I posted yesterday, “Fash Plays it Cool“, Fashawn shows off that liquid smooth flow of his over some incredible Alchemist beats. I can’t wait for this mixtape to drop tomorrow, you know you will be able to find it here.

Album Review: Raekwon, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2

Wu-Tang has been one of the greatest dynasties that Hip-Hop has ever seen. Just about every group album has been stellar, not to mention that every solo album is top notch quality. Raekwon comes into Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 fourteen years after the original Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, which, to this day is a classic. The aforementioned information may pose the question: Is Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 as good as the original? The answer, in my opinion, is a definite yes. I took one run through this album in my car, and I knew immediately I was listening to a classic . Raekwon brings along an all-star cast of producers and emcees to “cook up”, without a doubt, one of the best albums of 2009. Creating a magnificent masterpiece that is just as good as it’s predecessor is no easy task, but as OB4CL2 shows, for The Chef it comes naturally. Continue reading
3 New Joints Off Sean P’s Kimbo Price
Posted in Audio, Downloads with tags Boostin' Mobiles, brooklyn, Duck Down, Kimbo Price, MegaSean, Sean Price, Skyzoo, The Wire, Torae on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 by Tim Althaus
First off, I want to say that Sean Price is a fucking monster. This guy can rhyme better than 90% of the emcees that are out there right now. Thanks to the homeboy Shake, we have three new joints off of P’s upcoming album Kimbo Price. The first track is entitled “Duck Down” and it features fellow Brooklyn fire-spitters Skyzoo & Torae. I don’t really think that I need to tell you readers that these guys raid this beat like a SWAT team, and Skyzoo even drops a dope ass Prop Joe reference from The Wire. On the other two tracks, “MegaSean” & “Boostin’ Mobiles”, Sean P rides solo and shows why he’s easily one of the best and most witty emcees in the game. You aren’t sleeping on Jesus Price Superstar are you?

Crown Royale (Buff1 & Rhettmatic), “We Gotcha”

I am very glad to hear that Buff1 & Rhettmatic have found a home for their new Crown Royale project on MYX Music Label. These guys are both absolute monsters in their own right, and this project should be nothing short of phenomenal. I posted a video of these guys performing this track on Hip Hop Official when they were artist of the week. We now have the .mp3 download of this track thanks to 2DopeBoyz, and it’s definitely something to rejoice about. According to the article on 2DopeBoyz, it looks like the Crown Royale debut album will have a 2010 release. If you aren’t excited about this album, I have lost all faith in humanity. Nuff said.

“Fash Plays it Cool”
Posted in Audio, Downloads with tags Alchemist, Boy Meets World, Fash Plays it Cool, Fashawn, The Antidote, West Coast on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 by Tim Althaus
Thanks to Shake for the heads-up on this gem. As I mentioned in an earlier post, Fashawn is going to be putting out a mixtape entitled The Antidote that is solely produced by Alchemist. This is the first leak off of the mixtape, and it is called “Fash Plays it Cool”. This track is incredibly fresh, and it makes me want to hear the finished project even more. Fashawn is one of the dopest emcees on the West Coast right now, and as you know Alchemist is very nice with the beats. These two getting together is something that should happen way more often. Even though I’ve said it at least a million times, make sure you go out and get Boy Meets World when it drops on October 20th.

I’ve been trying to work on the review for OB4CL2 like crazy, but I don’t think it’s going to be ready until tomorrow due to school work. You may recall that I posted this track yesterday, and thanks to Hip Hop Official we have the official video for “Walk With Me” today. Talk about the definition of yet another dope video from The Chef, he’s killing it on the music video tip. Make sure you go out and cop Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, it’s that real shit that you’ve been craving for quite some time.
