OJ

DAMN. This is a great way to come home from a hard day of work. I hit my twitter feed and saw Oh No tweeting about Madlib & Guilty Simpson (I didn’t really look what it pertained to, just clicked the link really). I quickly found out that they are going to be releasing an album under the alias OJ Simpson. Talk about a pairing of the titans people, I’ve been a huge fan of Guilty since the first time I heard him, and Madlib is a beast on the boards. This is going to be an album that people will be talking about for a long time to come. According to the Stones Throw website, the album will be comprised of 14 tracks featuring very few guests (Elzhi (fuck yeah) & Strong Arm Steady) and some select cuts by J Rocc. Based on the aforementioned information, I’m totally ready for Stones Throw to release this album. You can download the lead single “Coroner’s Music” below.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I can’t even believe I forgot about this one. I saw this video at 2DopeBoyz a while back and totally planned on posting it. This dope ass video is for the track “King With 4 Wives”, and it’s from Cymarshall Law & Mr. Joeker’s album Hip-Hop In The Soul. As I mentioned in the Hip-Hop In The Soul review, these guys are one hell of a duo. The video concept for this track is great, and it plays out just the way you would expect with Cy’s storytelling abilities. Definitely a great video worth checking out.

Yes, the above picture is the official artwork for the new album dropping August 11th. Here is the newest cut off the album, “Cuckoo”, which is produced by the one and only DJ Khalil. This is yet another strong track by Joell Ortiz, Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9″ & Joe Budden. These guys got me really wanting to hear that debut album like crazy. On every track that I’ve heard by these guys they come together to form like Optimus Prime, they just destroy tracks like bar brawls.

The Roots Tell You “How I Got Over”

Man it’s great to hear some new music from the Classic Illadelphians. The Roots just dropped a new single, “How I Got Over”, which will also be the name of their new album dropping September 29th on Def Jam. On this track you will get to hear Black Thought testing out his vocals doing some singing, which is very refreshing. Just another outing that is going to turn heads, to say the least. You can see The Roots doing their thing with Jimmy Fallon every night on Late Night.

DJ Jazzy Jeff Tears Apart The Wheels of Steel

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , on Monday, July 20, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Vodpod videos no longer available.
For those of you who sleep on DJ Jazzy Jeff, I truly feel sorry for you. He is your favorite DJ’s favorite DJ. The man is easily one of the best to ever do his thing on the turntables. Here is some great footage of Jeff tearing shit up at The House of Blues with DJ AM. Notice Jeff doing his thing the whole video, then at 1:10 DJ AM gives Jeff the floor and he just starts tearing the shit out of Run DMC’s “Peter Piper”. If you are a fan of turntablism or Hip-Hop at all, you shouldn’t miss this video.

Evidence x Peter Parker x Rhymesayers Entertainment

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , on Monday, July 20, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Mr. Peter Parker took a moment with Evidence at Rock the Bells to talk about his newly inked deal with Rhymesayers Entertainment. EV also talks about his last few efforts (The Weatherman LP, The LAyover EP), what he feels like moving to Rhymesayers, why he wanted to go there & a lot more. This is still a subject that I am completely in awe over, might be one of the best moves I’ve ever heard of. I might be a little biased, because as you all know I’m a huge fucking Evidence fan. Like Evidence says on the video, RSE is one hell of a family when it comes to music, and to be honest I think he can only help strengthen that family. You best believe I’m on the hunt for those pre-sale tickets people.
