Black Milk is one of my favorite performers there is, the guy is pretty much flawless when it comes to music. Apparently when Black was touring overseas (with Elzhi (the best emcee on the planet right now)), he decided to put together some footage and start a new video series. In this first episode you get an inside look in the studio with Black Milk, Alchemist, Guilty Simpson and Hex Murda. You will also get some great live footage of Black Milk performing, and some hilarious yet insightful behind the scenes footage. It’s great to see all of the people over seas showing Black Milk love, and they also love to drop the n-bomb. Elzhi Gets Ellmatic With “The Genesis”

I was very excited yesterday, I got news about Black Milk and then I found this gem over at 2Dopeboyz. This is a snippet from the track “The Genesis” which will be on Elzhi’s upcoming project Ellmatic. This project will feature El flowing over Nas classics from Illmatic. Let me tell you, from what I hear, this project is going to be ridiculous. Elzhi is one of the best emcees in the game right now, and this just proves it. He is taking the task of recreating a Hip-Hop classic, and if there is anyone in the game right now that can do it, it’s most definitely him.
In the short 42 seconds of this snippet he absolutely demolishes the beat, “…You barely throw jabs with your vocabulary/My punchlines knock niggas the fuck out/Still earn block figgas’, cop triggas’ and duck droughts”. This project is going to be amazing and I can’t wait until he puts it out. This track showcases some of the best rhymes in the game, don’t sleep on it. I’ll make sure I get the full version up when it’s out.

Cymarshall Law & Elzhi Are on a “Bullet Train”

This gem has been sitting in my inbox for a few days because I haven’t had the time to get it on the blog because of school issues. I am glad that I finally have time to get this up because it features two of the illest emcees in the game right now. “Bullet Train” is a track by Cymarshall Law, and it features the always flame throwing Elzhi and the female emcee Masia One.
If you haven’t heard of Elzhi or Cymarshall Law you really need to do yourself a favor and jump on the bandwagon. They put out two of the best albums of last year with no question and they have some of the best flow and rhymes that you will ever here. It seems like they are both able to make any beat they are given and make it their home. Elzhi really kills the beat, “I steamroll your team whole/get your whole dream stole/then take my supreme role as an extreme goal/I been in my zone chattin’ on an iPhone with a chick twistin’ up trees like a cyclone”. Masia One and Cymarshall Law follow in the same line and kill this hard hitting synth beat. If you like good rhymes do yourself a favor and download this one, you will be very dissapointed if you don’t.

HipHop DX’s Producer’s Corner with Elzhi & Black Milk

As if you haven’t heard enough from me on Elzhi & Black Milk this last year, HipHop DX did a feature on these two at the end of last year in their Producer’s Corner. Elzhi & Black Milk took the Hip-Hop game by storm last year by releasing two of the best albums of 2008. This is a great interview and it makes for a long but very great read. If you like both of these artists (as I do very much) I would highly suggest that you read this article because it is very in depth and to the point.

These guys are tearing up the entire game and putting the “D” back on the map. Take a close watch as Black Milk & Elzhi go through some of their hits. Both of these guys can absolutely tear apart the show and the mic. I can honestly say that if I could see any show in the world right now, this would be the show. Make sure you stay tuned to the Elzhi set because he performs part of one of my favorite songs (“Hiding Place“) by Little Brother. Please go out and get Tronic by Black Milk and The Preface by Elzhi if you haven’t, they are two of the sickest albums of this year, and of course they are from the “D”.

It’s almost as if we haven’t heard a great deal of magnificent music from the city of Detroit this year. Royce Da 5’9″ dropped this video for the lead single off of his soon to come masterpiece Street Hop. If you watch the video closely you will also notice that DJ Premier makes a couple of cameos in this video, well that’s because he executive produced the whole Royce album. If you aren’t familiar with Royce you need to get acclimated with him because you are truly missing out on something special. I can honestly say that this may be one of my most anticipated albums for next year, next to the Elzhi & Royce Da 5’9″ album (that’s right they are doing an entire album together) and Guilty Simpson & Sean Price album.
