James Murphy was gracious enough to give URB an inside look during a recent LCD Sondsystem studio session. It’s only a brief 40 second clip, but as you can see James Murphy feels right at home with his synthesizers. Erik, I know you are feeling this one. In my opinion, James Murphy is pretty much a god among men.
Here is a top quality track off of Mos’s new album The Ecstatic which will be dropping this coming Tuesday. The track features Talib Kweli (the other half of Black Star) and is produced by the legendary J Dilla. As many of you know, Mos & Kweli on the same track usually makes for some pure magic.
I don’t know about you readers out there, but I am definitely going to be at the store on Tuesday picking this gem up. Mos is due for another classic album, considering Tru3 Magic was an epic fail. Follow me after the jump for the track download. Continue reading →
Your favorite duo of brothers, Malice & Pusha (otherwise known as Clipse) sat down and talked to Vimby during their show at Webster Hall in New York. This is making me fiend for these guys album like the hard tan that they used to bake in the kitchen. According to the video interview, the new album is going to sound a lot like Lord Willin’ which is a great thing to me, because I think it was better than Hell Hath No Fury. It sounds like we are in store for a great album from the Thornton Brothers here real soon, stay posted for more news.
Here it is people, the first leak off of one of my most anticipated albums of the year, Random Axe. Black Milk, Sean Price & Guilty Simpson are firing on all cylinders on this track and by the sounds of this track, this album is going to be fucking classic. Follow me after the jump for the download Continue reading →
Rjd2 is one badass dude, he released Deadringerin 2002 (one of my favorite albums of all time), and roughly one year later he released this ten track gem otherwise known as The Horror EP. Don’t get me wrong, Deadringer is a multi-level musical masterpiece but I think The Horror EP is a little better. This EP has ten top tier tracks, revisits some of the best moments of Deadringer and further more, it features some of Rj’s best beats. I feel as though if this was the only material that you owned by Rjd2, you would still be listening to his best music. Continue reading →
Last week, we were on a bit of a music video kick at Mind Inversion, and it seems that this is turning out to be the week of the album pre-release streams. Yesterday, we were pleased to help spread the word about the first chance to listen to The Eternal from Sonic Youth, and today were are proud to link to a stream of Ox from Coalesce, an album that sees the legendary metallic hardcore reunite as well as reinvent themselves while maintaining their impeccable and unpredictable chops. Listen at the link below, exclusive from the dudes at Lambgoat:
Victims, Trap Them, and Black Breath stormed through Minneapolis yesterday evening with what could easily be called the most vicious hardcore tour making rounds in the U.S. early this summer, and all bands displayed an overwhelming presence despite the underwhelming crowd size (..for better or worse, I’m speculating that a local concert calendar that is more saturated than usual with hardcore shows courtesy of the ENR 15th Anniversary and tightening working class budgets are to blame..). However simply put, Victims were on top of their game, Trap Them proved to be more than worthy of the praise that has been thrown of them by some of extreme noise music’s most respected names (these days Napalm Death and Disfear even cite them as influences, to give you an idea), and Black Breath, while young, introduced the crusty part of my evening with a heavy swagger rocking through their dirty modern hardcore. Personally, I just felt lucky to be one of the few who got to pit it up to the live tornado of chaos contained within the cavernous club in west bank Minneapolis for one night; and lucky for you lazy punks, I brought my camera and captured some guerilla style videos and photos from the show which follow below:
The release for Sonic Youth‘s new album is only one week away (Tuesday, June 9th), but all the diehards can get their fix early by streaming the album the album online here! Treat yourself today: tune in and turn up!
Here is some good interview footage from Soundset this year that comes courtesy of Mr. Peter Parker. He had the chance to catch up with Freeway & Jake One, as well as Brother Ali backstage at Soundset. The first one (obviously) is of Jake One & Freeway and you can follow me after the jump for Brother Ali’s footage. Continue reading →
Can you say epic (shouts to 2DopeBoyz)? That’s exactly what this artwork is for Chali 2na’s new album Fish Outta Water, which will be dropping July 7th. This album looks like it’s going to be great. We will hear guest appearances from Talib Kweli, Beenie Man, Elzhi (holy shit), as well as Damian & Steven Marley. On the production side we will see Jake One, Vitamin D & Scott Storch (isn’t he in jail?). Follow me after the jump for the tracklisting. Continue reading →
