Paul Rodriguez Gives In Depth Insight Into the Zoom P-Rod 3

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , , on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 by Tim Althaus

If you are a sneaker head like I am, you’ve been waiting for this one for quite some time. I am probably the biggest fan of the Zoom P-Rod 2, I think I’ve owned at least 7-8 different color schemes. The design and comfort of the Zoom P-Rod 2 is damn near un-matched. I’ve been hearing about the Zoom P-Rod 3 for a little over a year now, and I’ve been very antsy to get a look at the new shoe. This video features Paul Rodriguez talking about his new shoe at his store Primitive in L.A. He definitely gives some great background on the shoe, and even delves into why he decided to discontinue the P-Rod 2. Make sure you check this one out, I can’t wait to get my pair.

GZA Live @ Lollapalooza

I have to say, GZA has to be top 10 for sure. Here is some footage of The Genius performing “Liquid Swords” at Lollapalooza this year live with Santigold. I watched this video and had to start listening to the album Liquid Swords right away, shit’s way to classic to not listen to on a regular basis. You can hit the jump to watch another video with some very brief clips of performances from other tracks, GZA talking about what other projects he would love to be a part of and the feature of the Clan. Flying Lotus, “Aunties Lock”

I was over at Sound Verite, and needless to say I caught this gem over there. If you haven’t gotten up on Steven Ellison (Flying Lotus) yet, you are missing out on some fantastic music. If you were to toss Dilla, Madlib & Prefuse 73’s styles into one unique sound, that is what Fly Lo would sound like. It’s so hard to put a finger on what style his music is, you could easily call it Electronica, but on the other hand you could easily call it Hip-Hop as well. I’ll leave the judging to you. If you get the chance, get all of his work that he’s put out. Everything that this guy has done has been nothing short of exemplary. His L.A. EP 3×3 is now out on limited vinyl via Warp Records as well.

Jabari Interviews The Step Brothers

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , , on Monday, August 24, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Man, these guys are two of the dopest guys on the planet. Jabari was able to interview Evidence & Alchemist backstage at a recent Rock the Bells concert. I have to mention right away that I was laughing about 90% of the time because Alchemist is fucking hilarious. There are a lot of things touched on this interview and it gives you some great insight as to how busy both of them are. These guys have some of the best chemistry in the game, and it even shows in the interview how they feed off of each other.

EV talks about how he has been getting the respect that he set out to get, and how he is really happy at where he’s at even if the major media outlets don’t come his way. Alchemist speaks on how him and Evidence work so well together, and what it all comes down to, he also talks about his new album Chemical Warfare and how it’s going to have an elongated release. I don’t really think it’s necessary, but I’m going to say it anyways. I look forward to everything that these guys have to offer in the future.

Raekwon, “House of Flying Daggers”(Featuring Inspectah Deck, Method Man & Ghostface) (Prod By J Dilla) (Video)

Vodpod videos no longer available.

This video might seriously get my nod for video of the year. I posted the teaser trailer earlier, but this video decimates all expectations. The animation on this video are purely pristine, and it’s directed very well. This is definitely a video that you don’t want to miss. Is it just me or is Wu taking over the interhighway today?

Raekwon, “10 Bricks” (Feat. Cappadonna & Ghostface Killah) (Prod. By J Dilla)

Yet another banger from J Dilla off of the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2 album, which I may remind you drops on September 8th. You may recall that the beat on this track was on the re-release of Jaylib, Champion Sound on the track “The Red”. I remember when I heard the beat initially (on the Jaylib album) and was kind of disappointed that Madlib had changed it. Either way you look at it, the beat does knock like crazy and these guys are dope as hell over it. Cappadonna’s verse is a little below average compared to Ghost Deini and The Chef, but it’s still a dope ass track.

Here is Cymar’s take on the Brothers Thornton track “Kind of a Big Deal”. To be honest, I like this version more than the one that Clipse put out. Cymar is one of the dopest fire spitters that I’ve heard in quite some time. If you sleep on this guy you should be ashamed of yourself. You can also go over to MTVU.com and vote for Cymar’s video “King With 4 Wives” for the Best Freshmen Contest.

Fashawn & Exile Perform “The Score”

Posted in Media, Video with tags , , , , on Monday, August 24, 2009 by Tim Althaus

Gotta shout out 2DopeBoyz for this one. This is a video of Fashawn & Exile performing in the Hip Hop Official studios when they were the artist of the week. The track is called “The Score”, and of course you can expect it to be on Fash’s upcoming album Boy Meets World. Notice that Exile completely tears up the turntables and his beat in the background goes hard as hell. Boy Meets World is definitely an album that I am highly anticipating.
